Agreed and I can't believe that I'm proposing it, but Kris Humphries may not be a bad option depending upon the dollars.

Unless there is something I don't know about he would be a steal for the full midlevel. Very good rebounding can score some and even blocks some shots. I would imagine someone will give him more money, but I guess you never know.

Anyone think Brooklyn would take some of our clutter off our hands for KG's 12 million expiring? He's only good for 15-20 minutes max a game, but that could potentially clear some longer term deals off our books and let him retire a T Wolf. I would think this would be one of the last deals to consider this summer, but it could help us clear who we need to for financial flexibility in the future. Maybe you give them JJ, Bud and Shved for KG which is basically a salary match. Then use part of the MLE on a backup PG because we'd have 5 bigs + LRMAM who can play small ball 4 on the roster. Then if worst comes to worse and Love goes elsewhere, you just opened around 27 million in cap space in the same summer. Then you overpay a young, up and coming player to try to snake him away from his team (*cough* Klay Thompson *cough*) and you potentially get him for what he would have charged anyway in a deal for Love and you don't have to take on Lee's contract. Otherwise you hamstring the Warriors with a big deal for Klay which effectively kills the rest of their space for a big name free agent. Seems like a win-win.

I really like the deal to be honest. I've always been a KG fan. Probably the most hated guy buy peers on other teams, but he's one of the best teammates in the league. I think he'd be a good mentor for our younger guys like he was for Rondo. No one is as passionate about the game as KG. He's always looking for an edge.

KG could leave quite the impression on Dieng and LaVine. Not to mention he'd love Rubio's grit and competitiveness. I doubt a move like that is on Flip's radar, though.
This deal plus a trade for Eric Gordon could potentially open up a lot of space in the future, plus make the 2014 Wolves an interesting team to watch.
In: Garnett, Gordon
Out: Barea, Budinger, Shved, Martin, Mbah Moute
Rubio/FA (Flip has interest in Livingston)
Gordon/LaVine/ (Meeks :thumb:)
Brewer/Robinson/Muhammad
Love/Garnett
Pekovic/Dieng/Turiaf

Vasquez would be the guy I'd like to see us target in FA. Might need a sign and the trade to get it done, with Barea and his expiring deal outgoing.
Solid around PG who wouldn't look out of place starting for half the teams in the league.
Isaiah Thomas is another guy that interests me, but probably out of our price range.
In terms of a back up PF if Love doesn't get traded, Epke Udohs names been floated around.

"Shaun Livingston has received multiple offers starting at $6M per season"
WOW. Hopefully not from Flip. Not worth that at all.

I thought about mentioning Udoh even though he would add to the offensively challenged depth of bigs wewould have then I looked at his stats. Brutal on offense poor rebounder. I haven't seen him play much but vet min at best for him plus he hasn't been healthy.
I figured Livingston would be a hot commodity but wow. I doubt Flip has offered that money. He is a nice player but no thanks at that price.

Cap space is the last thing the Wolves should be looking for. There are only two ways to acquire the players needed to turn a franchise like the Wolves into a contender - the draft and smart trades. As for KG specifically, I've always loved his effort and intensity. But he's never been a mentor and he has no track record of helping younger players. Just ask Wally Z. He did nothing to help rein in Cassell or Sprewell when they acted out and imploded the team. In fact, talk to people who were in the Wolves organization then and you'll hear that KG was the chief enabler for Sammy and Spree. Yes, KG is a great competitor, but he's incredibly immature and a jerk. There is no way Flip would contemplate bringing in KG as a player or coach unless KG has grown up a lot since leaving the Wolves.

On the subject of opening cap space that doesn't have to be used to sign free agents but could be used to bring in more salary than we send out in a trade. Thats hugely valuable as any team looking to initiate a rebuild will be looking for the same and the space could facilitate trading for a star player.
