Well, let's get something corrected first. He's not the third string center; that's not even his position. He's set up to be the backup power forward to Gibson and play with Gasol off the bench and has the skillset to become the starter in the future. If you'd rather play on a lottery team, then by all means, go ahead. I'd rather be a rotation player on a championship contending team who, in a few years, will give me an opportunity to start regularly. I'd bet that 97% of NBA players would agree with that take. The other 3% are the JaVale McGee, J.R. Smith, Tyrus Thomas types... bafoons.
You're acting like Chicago didn't make a promise to Mirotic. This promise was that they wouldn't trade him, and it was this promise that got him to leave his Euro ball as well as play on a contending NBA team. Understand that if they go back on their word it does not look good around the league, and more importantly to future Euro prospects.
