Do you like Waiters that much?
Embiid has the potential to be much better than Pekovic, but I'm not going to overlook the huge question marks regarding him and his injuries. Pek gets banged up, but you can usually pencil him in for 60 games of 20/10-ish basketball, and that's All-Star level production. I could certainly live with this part of the trade, though. It's the other parts that I'm not a fan of.
I'll take Waiters over Young, and I say that as a guy who
really likes Young's game. Waiters is younger (22 to 26) and has the ability to attack off the dribble on a consistent basis. He's on an upward trend, in my opinion, scoring just over 19 PPG on 46% from the field (38% from three), 3.7 APG (2.1 TOs) and 1.0 SPG in 22 games after the All-Star break. I know a lot of people don't like Waiters as much as I do, but I see the guy's talent. I'd hold on to him if Flip gets him involved in the trade.
Keep in mind that I have also said on this board that I believe Philly would do a Bennett + Barea for Young trade. They're stockpiling assets right now. Young is essentially on a one year deal for them since he has a player option for 2015 and they were high on Bennett last summer (reports said they were planning to take Bennett/Oladipo/Noel with the pick they acquired from the Pelicans in the Holiday trade). Obviously, Bennett and Oladipo never made it to them, but I'd wager they're still interested in Bennett.
The Sixers come away with a perfect fit next to Noel in Pekovic, Waiters, Bennett and two 1st round picks for Embiid, Young and Richardson? No way, Jose. We'd be getting fleeced.
I'm not as big of a fan as Pek or Waiters as you are, so that's part of the disagreement, but this trade to me gives us a potential Big 4 in 3 to 4 years. Financially it's a hell of a lot better. Waiters is going to get paid 10 mil+ soon with the current market! Pek is already making 12, and Bennett's rookie contract is considerably big. JRich is gone in a year, Young could probably be had for around 10 and Embiid will be making around 5 a year for the next 4 years. Even If we can't get a big name free agent, we can take on bad contracts with assists to add to our core of Rubio LaVine Wiggins Embiid. This trade also leaves us in better condition for tanking, which to me makes the most sense for a quick rebuild
Sure, if Embiid doesn't continue to break down. Acknowledge that Embiid is NOT a sure thing and could easily bust due to injuries.
Waiters and Young will likely get paid around the same ($10M per was a decent estimate). As I said, I'd rather have Waiters.
Bennett, who I'm not a fan of and would decline his option if he didn't impress me enough, is making $5M-ish. Embiid will make about $5M-ish for the next four years, as you said. So far we're even through two comparisons as long as we're assuming the Wolves pick up Bennett's option.
The only difference salary-wise is Pekovic and his $12M per, which is fair market value for a guy who produces like him.
The only big contracts I'd have are Rubio at $12M (assuming Flip's not an idiot), Pekovic at $12M and Waiters at $10M. With all the rookie contracts currently on the team, I'm not too worried about cap space. I'm not going to get fleeced in a trade just so I have cap space to sign a free agent who isn't going to want to play with a bunch of rookies and sophomore players. The two 1st round picks being included don't make sense at all by the way.

Keep in mind it'll be tough to 100% tank with Rubio here. He made Stiemsma and Gelabale look OK on offense for crying out loud. That's saying something.

Flip is going to want a starting calibre PF in return for any trade involving Love. I like the idea of Thaddeus Young. He's still young, in his prime and has a reasonable contract. KG has nothing left.
If we can acquire Wiggins, Waiters and Young I'd he over the moon.
MIN receives: Wiggins, Waiters, Young, two unguaranteed contracts and future CLE 1st,
CLE receives: Love, Barea and Wroten.
PHI receives: Bennett, Budinger, future Min 2nd, future CLE 2nd.
Rubio / LeVine / Shved
Martin / Waiters / Muhammad
Wiggins / Brewer / GR3
Young / LMAM / Hummel
Pek / Dieng / Turiaf
Irving / Barea / Delladova
Allen / Wroten / Harris
James / Miller / Jones
Love / Thompson / Murphy
Varejao / Haywood / FA
MCW / Jackson / Ware
Richardson / Thompson / Williams
Bennett / Saric / Budinger
Noel / Davies / Varnado
Embiid / Moultrie / Simms
Min would be young but still competitive. Cleveland would be favourites to win it all. Philadelphia would be brutal for another season, but would have a nice core of MCW, Noel and Embiid, prospects in Bennett and Saric, and cap flexibility.

Kiwi, that's what I've been hoping for. Wiggins, Waiters and Young would make me a very happy guy.

That would be a great haul for us. I think Flip might be able to coach that team to the playoffs with Rubio, Pekovic, Dieng, Martin, and a dash of Lavine.

We are not going to get Wiggins. Waiters and Young. The only Cavs player the Sixers are interested in is Waiters. Therefore, to get Young in a three-team deal, Waiters will go to the Sixers.

Just what role do you think he could be valuable in?
player ambassador for the team. Like Miller with the pacers, kareem with the lakers ect. Probably could come in to help with guys in training camp. Much to intense for a coaching role

I disagree. Philly had a high level of interest in Bennett last summer and likely would have drafted him if he had made it to No. 6 (pick they acquired via Holiday trade). Even with a poor rookie campaign, their interest is probably still there. I'm not disagreeing with Philly having interest in Waiters, but a trade around Bennett and Barea (
maybe a low 1st too) would be a good deal for the Sixers and their one year rental in Young.
Waiters might not even be on the table from Cleveland's side, but if he is, Flip needs to keep him.
