I'll bet he was thinking the same about Dieng until the injuries forced his hand!

that is a nice quote I would hate to see his bad quote. :) Adelman's dementia is affecting his judgement.

On second thought. Forget Hoiberg and SVG. Spurs just won their 19th straight! I haven't heard one mention of it on sports radio the last 2 weeks. I guess it doesn't fit in the Lebron/Lakers/Knicks dominated discussion.

Anyway, just take someone from Pop's staff to be our next coach. Anybody. Or pay Pop a consulting fee to make a recommendation for us. Wow. Can't believe this story isn't getting more attention.

I badly wanted PJ Carlisemo off Pop's staff a few years ago...

I'm ok with PJ, Sprewell is long gone, so no worries there!

Maybe some of you heard Chad Hartman's interview with Glen Taylor yesterday, or read about it in Papa's column this morning. Anyway, it seems to put to bed any thoughts about Glen installing Flip as the next coach. Glen definitively says he intends to keep the PBO and coaching roles separate, and that he expects Flip to find the next coach. When Chad asked Glen what he would do if Flip channeled Dick Cheney and, as head of the coach search committee, found himself to be the best candidate, Glen said "I would tell them to find another alternative". Doesn't mean Glen can't change his mind, but the strength of his comments doesn't seem to make that very likely.

So, we can proceed with discussing the merits of SVG, Hoiberg, Howland, etc, and leave Flip out of the equation.

Well, if Flip is banned from coaching, he'll probably go with a guy he can have the most "influence" on... Hoiberg.

I hadn't thought of it that way, tim, but I think you nailed it. I don't know how Flip feels about this season, but I do know how I would feel if I were him. I would be angry at Adelman for acting "senior" to me and refusing to play promising prospects that I had provided him in the draft. Subconsciously or consciously, I wouldn't want to find myself in a similar situation with the next coach, and I might find myself "junior" again with a SVG, Karl, or Howland coaching...especially SVG, who seems to find conflict often. Hoiberg, on the other hand, played for Flip, and so automatically would come into the coaching role "junior" to Flip.

I don't know if Hoiberg is the right choice, but I would bet even money that he will be Flip's choice. I think they would have a more collaborative relationship than Flip and Rick currently have, and I see that as a good thing.

I think Hoiberg just won't do stupid things. He will be able explain his logic. Fred is smart and logical. Hard not to like him.
