Because Shaq publicly didn't like him and Dwight supposedly asked for him to be fired? What about how Dwight called him last off-season multiple times asking for his opinions on where he should take his talents?

[quote="I talked to Stan a lot during last season," he told the Houston Chronicle. "During the offseason we talked and he felt that the system that would fit me best and the coaching staff would be Houston. He said he liked Kevin McHale. He likes James Harden and the fact that this is a young team. It reminds him of the team we had in Orlando, so he felt like this would be a good fit for me."

Using Van Gundy's advice, Howard signed a four-year, $88 million deal with the Rockets.

"He understands situations that are going to make me thrive," Howard said. "He knows me best. We were together for five years. We had great years together, great runs in the playoffs, so he understands what it would take to win. Stan is a guru when it comes to studying basketball. Getting advice from him has always been beneficial to me."]

Sounds pretty respectful to me. Do we forget that Dwight and Stan used to be pretty close? Dwight doing his SVG impersonations for ESPN back when people liked him. Or did we forget that because he asked for Stan to be fired behind closed doors, SUPPOSEDLY.

After watching that gut-wrenching interview of Love after the loss to Memphis (I think?), I doubt he'd be against Stan Van. Love wants to win. SVG is a proven winner in this league capable of adapting to the talent on the roster. Both fiery competitors. It seems like a great combo rather than one that would combust. Just my opinion, though.
