Yeah, for folks that haven't had much of a chance to see Miller and Minott, tonight was Exhibit A as to why there is some real skepticism on their ability to help us in the near or even medium term. The hope was that one or both could step into may be a 9th or 10 man role next year if we have to cut salary via free agency and trades, but neither look remotely close to being ready.
Yup! That team option on TBJ is looking pretty good!Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 9:30 pmYeah, for folks that haven't had much of a chance to see Miller and Minott, tonight was Exhibit A as to why there is some real skepticism on their ability to help us in the near or even medium term. I was a big Coolidge fan.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 8:13 pmIt was on when I was a kid and I used to watch it with my Mom. Were they pointing at the defender? Yeah, that would be bad. I thought they were pointing to the dunker!FNG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 9:48 amI was a big Coolidge fan.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Fri Jan 12, 2024 8:13 pmIt was on when I was a kid and I used to watch it with my Mom. Again, this team takes care of business against an inferior opponent. Dominant performance by Rudy and KAT...47 combined points on only 19 shots, and 25 rebounds. But again the answer is sharing the ball...35 assists, and we remain undefeated when we have at least 27 assists (10-11 when we don't). Simple game. And how about Ant with no turnovers! He only had 9 points, but his 6 assists and tough defense led him to a team-leading +41. Did he learn something in this game?
I'm not sure how I feel about the Wolves' bench all pointing at a defender who gets posterized. I have to admit it's fun to see, but are we risking a taunting technical? Not sure why the refs aren't calling it. Do other teams do this, or is this just a Wolves thing.
When is Finchie going to end the NAW at PG experiment? It's painful to watch and does him a disservice playing him out of position.
Jaden remains a puzzle. His temper tantrum when he fired the ball at the ref was remindful of his 6 technical fouls his freshman year in college (along with leading the conference in fouls). And forcing shots led to 4 bad TOs tonight. Some may say we don't get him involved in the offense enough, and to some extent that is true. But if you watch him on offense, you'll see he suffers from Andrew Wiggins disease...standing in the corner most of the time. We need to keep starting Jaden because of what he brings on defense, but I need more from him overall.
Ha, I did too at first, Tim, but then I watched a little closer...they're definitely pointing at the posteree, not the posterer. Apparently Nix started it about 4-5 games ago, and it's really caught on. I thought about it, and decided I think it's fun and entertaining. I run behavior like this through a "would I be pissed off if another team did it to us" lens, and I think I would not. It's at a different level than a player standing too long over another player, and it adds some fun to the game...not to mention building team camaraderie.60WinTim wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 1:14 pmWere they pointing at the defender? I first noticed it on the KAT dunk on Mo Wagner, there was a timeout immediately after the play, so the bench was actually walking out onto the floor pointing at Wagner (who is known as a big time instigator, so I thought it had to do with that when I first saw it). If you watch that clip though, when they notice the refs looking at them, they all move their arms and point at KAT instead, so there seems to be some self awareness of it. I think if finch ever gets asked about it, that will be the end of it, if not after they get a TO for it. I can totally see other teams doing this to Rudy at some point, since his willingness to go for blocks makes him get postered more often than the average player.FNG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 13, 2024 3:03 pmHa, I did too at first, Tim, but then I watched a little closer...they're definitely pointing at the posteree, not the posterer. All that said, I expect the refs to take the fun away by awarding a technical the next time it happens.
