He’s in Iowa. But, yeah, he’s got a long ways to go…

one game at a time... for the eighth time.

I'm-not-Abe late night DVR review:
- Uh, let's keep those lackadaisical first quarter starts in the rearview mirror! That's how you open a game.
- One of you mentioned it in the game thread, but it was clear we were pushing the pace. It's fun seeing Ant get out and fill the lane. I don't think it was just a DDV thing (although he helps). It looked like a concerted effort by everyone and something the coach's have probably been talking about.
- Randle once again making quicker decisions with the ball. He has been so much better as more of a facilitator, screener, and mover of the ball. I think that evolution has gone hand in hand with Jaden's transformation, although I can't quite say one thing 100% causes the other.
- Clark will see playoff minutes. How many, I don't know. But his defense is just incredible. Go look at how Iowa's defense has basically collapsed ever since he got promoted. What makes him unique is that he is both a great one on one positional defender and outstanding team defender that can wreak havoc in other ways.
- Naz is losing about a $1 million per game on his next contract at this rate!
- Good win, but we are getting ZERO help from anyone! No matter what we do, we just stay in the 7th spot. Frustrating.

the separation from the bad teams to the middling teams is making all the difference.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:53 pm I'm-not-Abe late night DVR review:

the craziest, yet remotely possible scenario is Minnesota somehow finishing 3rd seed again yet the basketball world still calling us underachievers.

The pace thing has been an ongoing theme in the winning streak. It's definitely been a priority.

We are still near the bottom of the league in overall pace, but yeah, it's been creeping up of late. It just looked really intentional last night and I was surprised to see Ant filling lanes rather than trailing the play while everyone else is running their ass off.AbeVigodaLive wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 5:31 amQ-is-here wrote: ↑Sun Mar 16, 2025 9:53 pm I'm-not-Abe late night DVR review:

One thing about pace is that I'm not sure it's actually correlated to winning more games. Often times trying to play faster leads to more sloppiness that bites you in the ass going the other direction. That being said, I can see why it would be effective against a team of plodders like Utah.

Yeah. I noticed it most prominently in the Denver game. There was one possession in particular where there were no dribbles, but all 5 guys touched it within the first 6 seconds of the clock.Q-is-here wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 7:57 amWe are still near the bottom of the league in overall pace, but yeah, it's been creeping up of late. Nearly every time the ball was inbounded or rebounded, it was pushed ahead via the pass, sometimes even if the other player was only a few feet ahead.
Maybe the Wolves wanted to wear Jokic down in that game. Or, it's just a simple, easy way for odd-man early offense compared to trying to score vs. set defense.

Made sense against a thin Denver team too. And it's one of the few ways you can expose Jokic.AbeVigodaLive wrote: ↑Mon Mar 17, 2025 9:03 amYeah. I noticed it most prominently in the Denver game. I'm trying to think of a team where it doesn't make sense for the Wolves to push the pace so intentionally (that doesn't mean we abandon obvious opportunities for easy buckets). May be OKC?
