I find what Rob has done to be alright. Definitely alright enough to use him regularly. The things he's good at are the things we struggle at. As long as this team highlights these things, we'll be fine as he continues to grow.

3 games in and the team has never felt like it's gonna veer off course and unravel. That's a good sign.

Miller's been really good. We just have a harsher grade on him because his game looks so ugly.

Miller is such a garbage man in every sense of the word. It seems like every time he scores he's cleaning up a broken play or loose ball.

points allowed: 91, 83, 73.

small sample size obviously, but what it shows is that defensively, Rob is a) getting after it and b) even when he isn't, it's easier to hide him when you have good defenders around him. He'll have better ones around him once training camp starts.

I do wonder if he may be better off making himself into a hustle big that focuses on rebounding, transition offense, and annoying defense. He has offensive skills for sure, but they don't fit well in a set half court offense and he looks like he is always on the edge of committing a turnover.

Bailey has been very solid. Not flashy by any means, but plays pretty well on both sides of the ball.

I'm on the fence with Dillingham. Once again he commits 4 turnovers in only 26 minutes and missed a lot of mid-range shots. On the other hand, he is working his butt off and we are 3-0 with him as our floor leader, so he obviously is doing something right. He looked a lot more comfortable either making plays off the ball or in transition. Totally not a natural point guard and it shows.

Well, Dillingham brings quickness and he looks to push the ball. Those are definitely things we could add.

He can create shots for himself or others off the dribble too. Right now we've got Ant and Randle doing that at a high level, and TSJ clearly looks capable of doing that (though you hope the efficiency catches up to the ability). Even DDV can do that a bit for us as well. That depth with that skill might reduce the importance of having Dillingham do that for us.

Obviously, we need another ballhandler. I would say he's got to be more strategic and controlled when trying to run the half court offense though. He can find buckets like pulling lightning out of a bottle, but then the flash is over and he's getting beat on the defensive end on the next play. Then the next play down he'll just dribble into a bad situation and end up passing it to a guy in a bad position and who probably shouldn't have the ball anyway. Then, a couple plays later, he'll make a big hustle play. The positive plays are exciting, but there's got to be a level of stability and consistency on offense to offset the liability he'll be defensively.

Given Conley's age, arguably the most important thing we needed to go right this offseason in terms of player development was Dilly's ability to at least start transitioning reliably into Conley's role as the PG. Dilly's still young, and he could definitely still surprise us, but I would guess Finch will end up relying on Ant, Randle, TSJ, and DDV to pick up some of the duties from Conley. So maybe, Dillingham's role will be more of a classic "6th man bucket getter" like he was in college. Jamal Crawford with more passing. If you've got two of Ant, TSJ, or Randle out there, you might be able to get by just playing him like a bench scoring punch and let him play off the ball, which could be great for him.

Yeah we should all be able to see now that team ballhandling is such a huge weakness. We need more depth of ball handlers if nothing else.

So you’re saying we should keep Randle for his ball handling? ;)

His three looks good even when it doesn’t go in in summer league. And now the assists are raining in. Love what we are seeing from him.
TSJ gonna be our #2 by year end (yep I said it) He’s old enough and it ain’t gonna take long to happen. This guy has been my favorite player on the team since late last season. I really think he’s Jalen Williams.

This is a good point. The things Dilly does well (outside shooting, quickness in transition and solid passing) are needs with the big club. I think he’ll look better with better players around him. I’m not as worried about finishing at the rim or his defense when he’s playing 15 minutes per game with Ant, Jaden, Randle and Rudy. Finch will find ways to make him fit this year.
