Getting back on topic. I think if Bradford stays healthy he is going to be really good here. If he has a strong wonder if Teddy ever gets his job back.

I think at the very least there will be a competition. There are things to like about both QBs, and either one could possibly become a very good starter (one pundit already ranked Bradford is the 10th best QB last year, one step ahead of Teddy). If I had to design my dream (or at least a scenario with some possibility) scenario, it would be this:
Bradford learns the offense quickly, stays healthy, and shows the potential he had coming into the league...Vikings make a deep run in the playoffs. Meanwhile, Teddy works his rehab program diligently and is ready to go by training camp next year. A heated competition ensues, and one of them emerges as the winner (while Heinicke continues to show a lot of progress, and Hill remains a steady veteran). As the regular season approaches, a few teams find themselves in the position the Vikings were in a week ago...ready to compete, if they can find a good QB. The loser of the Bradford/Bridgewater battle gets traded for a 1st round pick plus 2 other picks, and the Vikings role with the winner of the battle, Heinicke and Hill. Speilman is proclaimed a genius, because he kept the Vikings in the hunt in 2016 and also got back more in trade for Bradford than he eventually paid.
Could happen, huh? I'm guessing that's what Rick had on his mind when he made the deal.

I'd really like to see Bradford stretch the field. Not expecting Jeff George to Randy Moss type of throws, but we need a guy who can complete more than 7 yard passes. So much more entertaining to watch then AP left, AP right, 5 yard sideline pass. Punt.

LST, I like what you are saying, but I would love to see us add someone better then Heinicke to the team as a third option. I see both of the QB's the Cheifs let go landed on other teams practice squads and we have Slavo back. WTF. Still nto sure why we didn't make a run at Austin Davis.

Bradford has enough arm that can make deep throws. As much as I like Teddy Bradford has an advantage in that respect.

That's because Heinicke is a better punter than anyone else. 42 punts in college with over a 42 yard average.
To be serious you know for absolute certainty that Heinicke isnt betteror as good as those guys you just named? Who had heard of Austin Davis till a couple years ago and now you are wanting him. Isn't it possible Heinicke is actually worthwhile?

I think that would be the perfect scenario too. The only way it works out is if Sam has a great year and Teddy wins the job back next spring otherwise teams will think Teddy is not recovered. I am not sure how you could trade Sam if he gets us to the NFC Title game or beyond. If he puts up 28+ TD's with 10 INT's I think he is the long-term QB for this team not matter what Teddy does.
As far as Heincke, If he was looking like starting material and they were so high o him I am not sure they do the Bradford trade. He likely was not going to beat out Hill as backup even if healthy. I think that says a lot. It is possible he could be good, but not thinking it is likely. He might have a Todd Bouman type career ahead of him, but not likely much else.

There was a lot of talk about Heinicke winning the backup job this year before he got hurt and that wasn't from fans. The team couldn't exactly wait for him to get back from injury and plan he was going to be in a groove like the probably hoped he would be in coming out of training camp etc. sure they could have just picked up a scrap pile guy and Inwould have been ok with that but they went all in on Bradford who fits REALLY well and has talent and like you said before could end up being the guy long term. So saying that how does that reflect so poorly on Heinicke that the Vikings traded for a possible franchise QB?

Monster, Good points. I trade is a solid trade based on timing. I think Bradford will flourish here if healthy. I just feel like we didn't do enough in the offseason for a backup for Teddy. If we would have landed Foles do you think we make a play for Bradford? Do you think Hill might have been cut prior to the injury?

If they had Foles they wouldn't have traded for Bradford and I doubt they would have cut Hill right away either with Heineken out.
