Yeah, I love this pick. Teams passed on him because of his height and no interceptions, but the ball was never thrown his way. And the kid is confident. Check out this interview...many said it was the best one at the combine.

What if the plan is to move Alexander opposite of Smith and use his hard hitting and instincts at the safety position? He hits, is instinctive, and is confident.
Plus he can cover his man across the field, giving us better coverage.

That's a good possibility, TX. Some are saying that drafting a CB in the second round is an indication they don't like Waynes, but Zimmer always speaks positively about him (and he doesn't give compliments easily). I thought the same thing you did...possible future safety.

That is one bright, confident guy! Normally I prefer a little more humility, but I didn't find his brashness the least bit offensive. And most importantly, he backs up his words on the field.

Captian is a FA after this year and really who do the Viking have beyond Rhodes Neeman Waybes and Captain? Newman ain't going to be around forever. I highly doubt Alexander will be converting to safety.

He sounded more like a former player turned DB coax or something not a rookie getting ready to be drafted.

Captain is only 28. That gives us Captain, Rhodes, Newman, and Waynes going forward. I see safety as a bigger issue, not sure who you value beyond Smith.
Smith plays hard and is 27, we need to groom another player now to play opposite of Smith. I think Alexander's physical play and cover skills will work alongside Smith. The key here is the physical play with cover skills.

Jason will like the Vikings trading out of the 3rd round. That's a pretty good haul 3rd and 4th in 2017 plus a 6th rounder this year.

The Vikings have Griffin, Sendejo Exum and Ant Harris at Safety besides Smith. I think they feel like between Griffin and Sedejo they have enough legit depth then they have a couple young guys that MIGHT be the answer in Harris and Exum. I just don't see why you would take a top cover CB and move him to Safety especially when he is a smaller guy.
