I had to think way too long to figure out who left to give us a 3rd round pick. Sheldon Richardson is a better player but he isn't 4x better (salary) plus a 3rd round comp pick than Stephen was last year. Similar math is why I don't think Linval makes sense at his current salary. I could see him taking a pay cut of a couple million to stay but would that be enough?
Back to the picks. That 3rd round pick is obviously a nice one to have available. The 7th rounders are nice too. If any fans want to complain about Trader Rick's love of 6th and 7th round picks I just want them to look at what the team did with them last draft.

That pick is huge. It should get us another early contributor.

We might get even more Valuable picks next year depending on how many of the FA DBs leave.

It will be interesting. We won't get anything for cutting anyone, but Anthony Harris, Waynes, and Alexander and maybe Weathers would help us.

Another post combine pre-free agency mock.
NOTE:
First, this mock will assume Minnesota finds a way to bring back defensive end Everson Griffen since the team has already stated they assume he will be on the team in 2020. In addition, Andrew Sendejo will be presumed to return to the team based on rumored interest.
First Round (Pick No. 25): Trevon Diggs, CB - Alabama (not a fan of his in first round)
Second Round (Pick No. 58): Justin Madubuike, DT - Texas A&M (love this pick)
Third Round (Pick No. 89): Logan Stenberg, G - Kentucky (doesn't fit scheme))
Third Round (Pick No. 105): Darnay Holmes, UCLA - CB (wow 2 CB's in first 4 picks)
Fourth Round (Pick No. 132): Brandon Jones, S - Texas (need to research him more)
Sixth Round (Pick No. 205): Aaron Fuller, WR - Washington (need to research him more)
Seventh Round (Pick No. 219): Colton McKivitz, OT - West Virginia (need to research him more)
Seventh Round (Pick No. 239): Oluwole Betiku Jr., Edge - Illinois (need to research him more)
Seventh Round (Pick No. 249): Salvon Ahmed, RB - Washington (need to research him more)
Seventh Round (Pick No. 253): Rodrigo Blankenship, K - Georgia (need to research him more)

If we take another corner in the first round I'm out. I'm done. We just let Rhodes go. We might let Waynes go. There just isn't long-term value there.

I'm fine with it IF it's clearly the BPA available and basically there isn't an oline man left that is valued that highly. DB is a need right now for this roster. I kinda doubt they take a CB though based on some of Zimmer's comments a few weeks ago.

I am BPA. I would love to go Jalen Hurt in second round. There is a ton of CB's in this draft, but there are only 3 that I would take in the first. OT is a little better with 4 I would take.

An interesting read that breaks down the risk of each position drafted in NFL over the last 10/25 years.
