So is Forbath's phone ringing right now? I usually don't overreact to kickers...but damn Carlson just lost a game 3 times...in one game.
Treadwell...man what a tough game.
Cousins was pretty good what a way to get it done when it's clutch time.

I think they could have tried running the ball a couple more times to get it closer too with 35 seconds left. I don't blame them for sitting on it, you have to expect your kicker to make a 35 yarder. I bet kickers make like 90 percent from there. D:

Yeah I was wondering that too, can you trust him not to melt down and maybe lose a game or two by sticking with him? Those kicks were way right. Kai wouldn't have missed all 3, that I would bet a lot of money on, he seemed reliable.

You just have to move on from him after this game. None of the kicks were even close. That's not NFL quality. And all we had to do was pick up Robbie Gould when the Bears dumped him. Big miss by Spielman and it could end up costing us if we don't get it fixed ASAP. Treadwell needs to be benched next week and spend all week on the jugs. -16 on special teams with the blocked punt TD and 3 missed FG's. Really shot ourselves in the foot this week. Offense and Defense both do their job in Green Bay and we come out with a tie. Very frustrating.

Forbath would have missed two field goals, not three. He would also have missed three of his four extra point tries leaving the game exactly as it ended!

Haha, he was OK last year. 84% on FG's and 87% on XP's. 19th on FG and 35th in XP percentage.
Yeah we should have went after Gould. He was really good last year.

Gould bounced back after a down year. Maybe we should try that with Dan Bailey who I think only hit around 75% of his kicks last season. He 30 so he isn't too old. Amusingly earlier when I looked him up Wikipedia had him as the Vikings kicker already. Supposedly he has been waiting for the right offer. Is the Vikings it?

Yeah I looked up his stats. I would rather have him or Kai right now, anyone that's proven over time. Can we really risk losing several games because of our kicker? Gould went 39/41 last year. Our dude already missed 3 FG's in 2 games.

It seems hard to have confidence in him at this point and yes it absolutely seems risky going further with him as the kicker.
I mean can anyone make any real case for keeping Carlson? I mean if there wasn't guys like Dan Bailey or even Forbath (who's problem is missing extra points) then maybe you hope he figured it out because the other options might be more known but not that great. Ugh man this kicking thing is brutal. Jeff Diamond has a podcast with Souhan and he was talking about having Gary Anderson on both the Vikings and Tennessee. What's Longwell up to?

Wow, a very entertaining game! Tough finish, but I was overall satisfied with our team. A few observations:
1) Cousins is very, very good...even better than we thought when we gave him the big contract. Accurate arm, excellent mobility (should have been sacked more than twice today) and a decent decision maker. I think we have a winner.
2) Carlson will be released this week...I don't think a rookie can ever recover from three terrible misses like that, especially in light of his misses in the preseason. I would be in favor of Forbath coming back.
3) Dreadful game for Treadwell, but it must be noted that the guy pushing him for the third spot dropped the only pass thrown his way. Treadway is obviously outplaying his competition in practice, and has to be given another chance. Cousins seems to like him, and the coaches like his downfield blocking. He needs to catch the ball though!
4) Again our linebackers seemed to get confused against the pass. I don't know that young Zimmer is the right guy to be coaching this talented trio...they don't seem to be getting it.
5) On the other hand, Papa Zimmer showed again why he is one of the best coaches in football. He totally outcoached the opposition in every facet. His restraint on employing the blitz seems to result in a high percentage of success when he does pull it out of the holster. His management of timeouts left him in a position to ice GB's kicker...we would have lost without that timely time out. Maybe he can teach Thibs that having a timeout or two in crunch time is a good thing, and that using your bench (all 8 D-linemen saw action again) leaves your starters fresh to make big plays late in the game.
6) This is a good football team. There's no shame in tying GB at Lambeau when Rodgers plays the whole game. I think they will go deep in the playoffs this year barring injuries to key players.
