Wiz get a starting C. We get a tough minded bench C to play behind KAT while shaving a year in salary.
It wouldn't hurt to call. Wizards would save a bit more money in the deal as well this season which is nice with Lux tax and all that. The question I have is whether they would see Dieng as an upgrade or not. If you just compare their RPM numbers from the past season the answer is no. That's not a fair way of looking at it but to me it depends on what you want from them. Dieng can score from a few places on the floor. Mahinmi is a strictly around the rim type. I'm a Dieng fan but honestly I'm not sure I would say really strongly which guy is a better player right now except Dieng has age and health on his side. My guess is the Wizards are going to look for some bargains for C in FA and a player like Noel might find a one year deal as a starter might be pretty intruiging even for not a lot of money. I might even be willing to sweeten the deal by offering Aldrich's non guaranteed deal and take back Jason Smith if the priority was to get off that last year of Dieng's deal. That might not even be enough for the Wizards to take on Dieng with that 3rd year and that would add over 4 million in salary for the Wolves this year. If teams keep making deals and depending on what happens with Lebron etc the Wolves may have some options to move Dieng for something seemingly more adventagious in one way or another.

The rookie presser if you didnt see it.

I found that Dane moore question quite interesting. I loved torontos bench this year. They were the most talented, but they functioned as a group by just outworking and outquicking their opponents.
Then I look at our possible bench, and I can see the makings of a similar unit. Young guys that play with high motor and can play multiple positions. Tyus, okogie, diop, amile, and Patton. (Im just not sure patton will be the rim protector bebe or jake are)

From what I've heard/read... Wizards fans hate Mahinmi even more than Wolves fans hate Dieng...
He's really a one-trick pony, basically a stronger Cole Aldrich?

I want Evans or Barton. Hope Thibs/Layden can work some miracles and find a way. Evans or Barton/Rose plus our rookies would be a fine offseason by my standards.

I have heard that the Suns may have some interest in Bjelica. He apparently has some Serbian connections with the Suns new coach Igor Kokoskov. How about a sign/trade for Dragan Bender? He's not the quite the shooter that Bjelica is but he's 10 years younger and apparently can be had.

Thats a tough one Mike. Bender is still only 20 and could blossom with a change of scenery, but I'd prefer to keep Belly if we can sign him to a similar contract to Bender - around 5 mil year.

Suns have cap space they dont need to do a sign and trade

My gut feeling is that Barton, who I'd also love, stays with Denver or leaves for a starting job. We have a lesser player that's 23 years old making max money, so, Barton wouldn't start here despite being better than Wiggins.
I think Evans is going to get PAID -- like, more than the full MLE type paid. Saw a stat that was something like Evans being one of five players to score 19/5/5 per game while shooting better than 40% from three. I wouldn't be surprised by a team thinking he's finally coming around on his potential at age 28 and paying him dearly for it.

Phoenix has the cap space to sign him outright should they give him an offer sheet that we won't match. Also, Bender looks like a fish out of water so far in the NBA. I think I'd rather have the known quantity here.

I thought Thorpe made a couple good points about Evans and why he doesn't think he is a good fit for the Wolves. First he said do you really believe in that 3 point shooting? Personally I would be a bit worried about it as well. Thorpe said he wasn't completely buying it either but said maybe Evans keeps it up. 2nd he said Evans doesn't play fast (and needs the ball) and he made the point the Wolves need guys that play fast to force the issue there. I don't think there is any chance at getting Evans he is going to go somewhere that he is a clear starter which could be Memphis.
