Jaylen Clark is back 3 years 10 million. I like that he is cheap plays hard and I think can get better and who he is. I think he can be a Josh Okogie type at least. There is value in having that type of guy on your roster.

He is good at cutting to the basket when the defender isn't paying attention to him, something Ball will find him on.

So here’s our roster based on the moves made so far this summer:

That leaves three roster spots to fill. I’d fill those three slots with Drummond, Sochan or Achiuwa, and Kyle Anderson.

Prediction

I don't know who we will specifically get, but I believe Tim will package TSJ with Josh Green in order to get a 4

So currently Wolves have 12 guys rostered for a total of 213.1 million.

2nd apron is 222 million

That gives us about 8.9 million space for 2 roster spots. One probably for a PF type player using a 6 million tax payer mid level.

These numbers also factor in the Evans pick 33 salary of about 1.5 million and the Clark extension salary of about 3 million.

Lastly we will see if they keep Julian Philips with the addition of Evans or if they decline his team option to get a different guy in. But that option being accepted was also included in these figures.

We only need 14 players. Currently at 12

Congrats to Clark!

We had high hopes for him and Shannon after letting NAW walk last offseason and both ended up being profoundly disappointing. But that doesn't mean they can't bounce back after another offseason of work, as they both did continue to show flashes of real positive play last year.

If Josh Green stays on the roster, Clark will compete with him for minutes as a 3&D defender, something we DESPERATELY need in order to get Jaden off the ball more on defense.

Today is deadline day for picking up Julian Phillips' team option. We haven't heard a peep about this from the Wolves, even though they already took care of the other two deadline items for today (QOs for Freeman and Clark).

The Wolves could be negotiating a trade that might require Phillips' contract for salary matching purposes. Or maybe they keep him because they like his potential. But my gut tells me the roster spot and/or cap implications might result in the Wolves declining his option.

We should know by 4pm EDT what the Wolves decide to do!

They could also be looking to decline the option and bring him back at some point. I think he would be cheaper against the cap if they declined the option and signed him to a 1 year vet min deal but there is no guarantee he comes back if other teams are also interested. I'd guess the Josh Green acquisition and bringing back Clark is making it tough for them to know what to do with him and I'd guess they like him to some extent. Also are their any teams that have interest in him so he might have slight value in a trade beyond just matching salaries.

Rudy due 36.5 million this season. 38 next season.

Do we think next offseason he will decline his player option and sign another 1+1 for 70 million with another player option the last year? So something like 33.5 year 1 and 36.5 year 2?

I feel like he is going to do something like this. And as the years go, we will slowly start dropping his minutes.

This year might be Rudy 32/Beringer 16 mpg
Next season Rudy 28/Beringer 20 mpg

This is what i would hope for barring some descent deal to move off Rudy if he opts in next summer.

I'll likely be proven wrong, but I think the Wolves may be done for now. The have 3 open roster spots. One of those roster spots will likely go to Rocco (or Freeman?), but they don't have to make that commitment until well after Summer League. Assuming they fill the 14th spot with a vet minimum, they will not have enough room under the 2nd apron to add a 15th spot with a vet minimum until roughly 30 games into the season (where it will be prorated).

So, the only mystery is who fills that 14th spot with the vet minimum now? Well, as long as "there is a chance", I doubt TC fills that spot until after the LeBron decision is made, which may be awhile. I guess I can go back to bed...
