At the end of the day it was going to be way more complicated for the Nets to facilitate D Lo to MN than just swap him for KD. The Warriors are just going to trade him in a year when Klay comes back. Steph/D Lo doesn't work at all defensively and you don't pay max money to a guy coming off the bench so don't count us out for the long term yet. We didn't get him this summer and frankly it's a tall task in summer 1 to both get off bad money and add a 23 year old all-star. At least we were in it which is something we rarely ever get to say for top free agents. What's one more year of disappointing basketball for this franchise?

Golden State is trading Andre Iguodala to the Memphis Grizzlies, league source tells ESPN. Warriors are sending a 2024 protected first-round pick in the 2024 (protected 1-4), 2025 (protected 1) and 2026 unprotected.

wtf

It's a roll over

Like I said, liking the guy is my only crime. Not becoming an NBA star has nothing to do with me. But go ahead and get your jolly's whenever you feel the need.

So I guess Rosas is a checkers player after all. :) I'll give him credit. He's a plays an aggressive game of checkers.

I have to confess that I thought Rosas had a deal in hand. Obviously, he didn't. There's nothing special about Rosas and his front office team as far as I can see. I thought he should have given up Covington to get Garland and I'd say he should have given up Covington to get Russell. Drawing the line at giving up a 29-year old 3&D player coming off a knee problem that kept him out for 2 months makes no sense for a team building around the 24-year old KAT on the front end of his 5-year contract. So I'm not impressed by Rosas so far.

Having said that, I'm not in despair over this and I'm not ready to proclaim Rosas a failure or an idiot on par with David Kahn or Thibodeau. In fact, I'll give Rosas credit for not making a bad deal. I'll give him credit for setting his parameters and holding to them. This is a marathon (or at least a 10K), not a sprint for the Wolves. The Nets didn't get where they are in one summer. They set things up the previous two summers with smart draft picks, solid acquisitions, impressive player development and good hires, but nothing flashy. The real test for Rosas will be his decision to draft Culver, especially relative to how Garland pans out, along with his decision to draft Nowell and then the development of those two as well as the development of Okogie and KBD. Then we'll see what Rosas does next summer with more draft picks, Teague coming off the books and Gorgui's contract set to expire one year later.

The only sign so far that Rosas isn't the brightest bulb was his decision to release Reynolds - a young player with 3-point shooting skills on a non-guaranteed contract. It will get worse if they bring him back on a guaranteed contract. Then I'll start to really wonder about Rosas. But for now, I'm OK with Rosas and what's happened so far. He hasn't messed up as far as I can see. He just hasn't done anything impressive. And that's in line with the entire history of Timberwolves management.

I think its, the protections on 1 pick because you cant trade b2b picks. I misread as well.

So the grizzlies could have eaten teagues deal for a pick, but rosas chose not to?

Why would the Grizzlies want a PG when they just drafted Ja over a defensive wing with championship experience?

Are we so sure that Dlo just didnt outright choose Golden State?

Iggy wasnt on the table at the time. The Grizzlies are just collecting picks, I dont think they would have cared who was coming along with the pick. And having a vet pg to show ja the ropes wouldnt be the worst thing.

Let's see....chance at a championship on a team that likes to pass the ball and chuck 3's AND have him a full max deal. Oh and the first few months of the season he will be the man with Curry. He was a RFA he chose his spot NOBODY would have guessed this a few hours ago.

He probably just chose Golden State, but he also probably came to the conclusion that Rosas wasn't gonna be able to free up the space and didn't wanna wait anymore.

Remember the Nets were in REALLY bad shape when Marks took over. They built a good team ended up with Russell and then just proceeded to real in a heck of a FA haul all while keeping all their young players except for Russell. That's pretty damn good. All is not lost folks.
