Yeah, I was thinking this would be a good opportunity to snag DeRozan. If the SA/TOR deal falls through, I don't think the Raptors can fix the damages done to the relationship between the front office and Demar, which means he'd have to go. Sending Andrew Wiggins back to Canada where he has a big following could be in play.

Or the trade gets finalized and the Spurs are left with spare parts. Would they flip DeRozan or roll with him and go for it again? I mean, they did make the playoffs without Leonard last year. It'd be worth a phone call or two.

In a way I can't believe that's all it took and the Raptors got Danny Green also.

Piss off Pop and he'll ship you off to Canada lol. Also Derozan can't be traded now until December I believe so they can't flip him right away and they may not want to. I don't imagine Pop as a blow it all up guy at this stage of his career. Derozan/LA is a playoff contender.

So pop ships out 2 great shooters from out side for a big and an athletic 2 who doesn't shoot 3s. Talk about zigging when everyone else is zagging. The Spurs were already near the bottom of the league last year in 3pa. I guess he's just not thinking about modern NBA offenses.

Lol. Yep, don't piss off Pop! I agree with you that the Spurs will be a playoff contender. Hell, they matched our record last season without Kawhi and now they're adding DeRozan. He's a big step up from Danny Green on the court and Kawhi on the bench. Some GMs are saying that the Spurs 1st round pick, Lonnie Walker, is the best player in the draft and a future star. D. Murray will only get better and the Spurs picked up Belinelli. Rudy Gay is still there, another year removed from his Achilles injury. So I see this deal clearly alone making the Spurs better that last season when they had the same record as the Wolves.

Wiggins is 23. Most of the current all-stars are 28+ in their prime. They're all gonna age out when he becomes that 28 year old guy in his prime. I wouldn't call it given how young he is relative to the current crop of top players. He's gonna have a good sized window to make some all-star teams.

I've been as big a critic of Wiggins as anyone on this Board, but I agree with you Kahns. Considering Wiggins' age, talent and defensive improvement last season, I'm not prepared to give up on him. After seeing what Oladipo did in his 5th season, it would be nice to see Wiggins take a similar link in his upcoming 5th season. If I had to bet, I'd bet Wiggins never becomes an allstar, but I still see it as a possibility. Short of becoming an allstar, I can see Wiggins developing into something we might call a borderline allstar. Can he do it? His poor hands and bad ballhandling make me wonder even more than his questionable motor. But he's been scoring 20+ points per game in his early 20s, so I'd say it's not unreasonable to expect him to improve significantly over the next few years and become an allstar caliber player.

It's unreasonable until he demonstrates the ability to make that sort of jump in his game which he hasn't done to this point.

So we have to wait 9 years for one of our "cornerstones" to finally vye for an all-star spot? Can't you see how low the bar has been set now for someone we considered a franchise level prospect?
