Isaiah Canaan is a guy that I intruiges me a little bit if you can sign him for basically the vet min. Why would I say that despite the guy obviously having some big time warts?

Dude jacks up a ton of 3's 63% of his FGs were the least of any year of his career and that was his rookie year. He shoots a solid percentage from that range. The Wolves could use a volume 3 point shooter. It seems he basically was moved to SG by Philly last year. I wonder if he could be sort of a JJ Barea in that if he was put in the right role he could've pretty valuable. He is small but the Wolves happen to have 2 big PGs he could play with and he could probably play next to Lavine some with both guys maybe just looking to make plays if they were playing against bench guys. He seems like a guy like Nate Robinson and Aaron Brooks that Thibs has worked some magic with before. If he comes for the price where you can basically cut him and bring in another guy if he doesn't work out he may be worth a shot.

If we sign a wing it should be one who can split time at sg/sf or sf/pf. We already have 4 guys who can play pg and 2 that can play both pg/sg.

I personally don't like the Crawford fit here and I see little chance of him coming here. I'd also prefer to sign Gasol to a 1+1 with the second year being a team option. I don't want 20 mil tied up into him next offseason without a way out.

Tyler Johnson gets a nice deal. I like that guy from what I saw of him.

And we should get at least one shooter. This is pretty much what is left: JR Smith, Crawford, Seth Curry, Deron Williams, Mario Chalmers, Tyler Johnson, Brandon Rush, Foye, Gerald Green, Dorell Wright, Marcus Thornton, Aaron Brooks, Alan Anderson, Hinrich, Jason Terry, Budinger. Both Crabbe and Harkless are restricted options who Portland likely matches. Waiters is also Restricted.

Of those names Aldrich, Reed, Gasol, Bass, Robinson, and Zeller for bigs I like. We need 2.

Tyler Johnson, Anderson, wright, Rush, green I'd take one of. I'd still like to see what the Kings want for Rudy Gay though.

I'd definitely prefer a 1 + 1 with a team option. But I can't imagine that would be enough. I suspect we'd have a tough time signing him on a 2-year deal with a player option on year 2. I would think Gasol will sign with an immediate contender like the Spurs, Thunder or Warriors. We might be able to sign him with a huge contract of at least 3 probably 4 years, but I wouldn't do that if I were Thibs.

Maybe it's best to pass on Gasol. Sign 2-3 depth guys that add to around 20 mil on 2-4 year deals and call it good. There's no reason we should be giving pau 15-20 mil over 3-4 years with the way our roster is constructed.

Gasol for 2 years would be great. But anything more than 2 years, I'd say no and just sign Cole Aldrich to a 4-year deal. Nicholson got a 4-year, $26 million dollar deal. I would think we could get Aldrich for 4 years $35 million -- about $9 million a year. Then we sign Crawford to a 2-year deal at $12 million per year and call it a summer. We'd be right at the salary floor for next season. With KG's retirement and the expected $10 million increase in the cap next summer, we'd be well-positioned to re-sign our own guys and possibly sign a quality free agent next summer. Hopefully, we can get Pek's salary off the books after this season through an injury retirement.

Anyone else surprised Ezeli hasn't gotten paid yet? I mean Mozgov got plenty of money. There are still some teams out there that could spend a decent chunk on him.

I love that Nicholson deal and think we should start turning attention to quality depth, not a starter. Save big money for next season. Nicholson isn't great but he can stretch the floor out to 3pt and he is only 26.

I'd move in Aldrich right now and forget about Gasol. Why do we want Crawford? I really would prefer a defensive minded wing to compliment bazz, Lavine, and Wiggins. Preferably one who can also play small ball 4. I think you create a huge log jam at both the 1 and 2 spots with a signing of Crawford. We would have jones, Dunn, Rubio, Lavine, Wiggins, and then Crawford all wanting minutes there.

Future I get what you are saying passing on combo guards like Crawford and Canaan but they also could be part of at least a short term answer for the need for shooting. Crawford cost more but more proven and completely short term. Canaan should be very cheap (or i don't want him) but could turn into something worth while. 2 bigs isn't out of the question. An Aldrich type and a guy like Acy would help since each could play PF.
