They just traded their backup PG and C for cap space that they won't be able to use if they re-sign Parsons. I think you can get decent production from Ariza at half the cost and then use the rest of your space to fill out your decimated roster. I don't think Parsons is a max guy, so I guess I wouldn't be matching that deal from the Mavericks. What's stopping you from keeping the cap space to try to pry Aldridge away from Portland next offseason or leaving the space open for Love if he doesn't get traded? I just don't see how they get better keeping Parsons at that much money when they lost some useful pieces for a botched move. I would rather throw a max at Bledsoe if I were them to try to get a potential star than overpay a role player. I feel like the GM's watched too much Oprah going into this offseason. "You get a max contract, you get a max contract and you get a max contract! Everybody is getting a max contract!"
I said Ariza would get around 10 million you were right about getting Ariza for roughly half of what Parson's is getting. So good call. Based on what guys have been getting Ariva for 8 per looks decent although his shooting comes and goes so I say he is a little overrated right now. Its a weird signing if they keep Parsons. Maybe they play small ball?

Ariza worries me. I would rather pay twice as much for Parson's because I think Ariza had an outliner season. As do the wizards.

That's how I feel and the Wizards also have Otto Porter who I had forgotton about although I saw something about Webster is having another back surgury? Pierce could be a nice player for that team. I'd take him over ariza for less money depending on your roster.

If I was the Rockets I would throw 15M for 3 years to Monroe and keep Parsons. And figure you are playing for the next 3 years with this team.

2/$20M for Loul Deng to the Heat.
Deng is a nice stop-gap andthe Heat will be a 4-6 seed in the east next year but D-Wade is fading fast and tha Bosh contract is going to be an albatross pretty quick. If I was a Heat fan I'd be very nervous about their future.

Even though I feel Lebron is a very likable player, that Heat team becomes much more likable now. Instead of being the hated favorite who bought a contending roster, they will be the underdogs who are competing after losing the best player in the world. Sports is funny sometimes.

League sources indicated the Bulls are in advanced talks with the Mavericks to take Greg Smith's expiring $948,163 off their books. Chicago Tribune - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.Ogtb1QT6.dpuf
This looks like a perfect target for our backup PF position. Solid player on a cheap deal if he is healthy.

I think the best news is that the East is starting to get competitive again even though it is still far behind the West. Cleveland is better. Miami will still be competitive. Chicago got better even if Rose has injury issues again. NY at least locked in a star and will probably get competitive again next year after Amare and Bargs come off the books. Toronto is staying the course and should get better with another offseason for their youth. Charlotte didn't lose anybody significant and are very young.

Shawn Marion makes sense for us. Doubt he's on Flip's radar, though.
(S/T with Indy for Lance Stephenson should, but won't happen.)

Dallas gets Richard Jefferson for the vet Min. Great signing after losing VC.
