I like the signing. The draft is less than a month away. I am ready to see how it unfolds.

Dakota Dozier comes here via the Jets.
(Where Rick Dennison was OL coach of a top 10 unit that was in the bottom 10 the year before he got there)

I forgot about the Dennison angle. I pretty much like anyone with the name Dozier. Dakota "Bull" Dozier? what could go wrong? It looks liek he has a decent amount of experience. I'm sure he came cheap and is like a solid depth. Today I listened to Wolfson's latest podcast and he said Brett Jones turned down other offers that had more money to come back. How much more money? eh...lets just feel good about him taking less money and coming back but I think that's worth something at least.

I didn't hear that about Jones. I like the Dozier signing for depth. I read something about them running behind him in short yardage. We could use that. I really think we are lacking that short yardage back right now.

I saw that the only guaranteed money Jones got was the signing bonus. Kinda surprising. If he agreed to that no wonder he was a priority. Did anyone see what contract Shately got?

That is odd. No idea on Shately.
Some more in-depth look at Dozier. What I saw was a guy that didn't get beat a lot in pass protection. He got beat a couple of times but seemed to recover. In space, he didn't always find a guy to block. He seems solid to me. Good backup and a guy that won't kill you if he starts. It is those big mistakes on the OL that kill you.

Getting guys like Dozier Sirles Compton or Jones cheap is pretty solid. I think those guys aren't the answer but probably won't be massive liabilities on their own.
Speaking of Jones here are some basic numbers for him and Shatley. I know that Jones has some incentives that aren't mentioned here but basically both guys didn't get any kind of size-able deals and it's also possible both took a little less to go back to their teams. It's worth mentioning that if the margin is only a couple hundred thousand or so moving expenses probably are a legit consideration. Even with a tax write off staying where you are could be worth considering financially. Not sure if Jones ever settled in MN after the trade or not. Either of these guys could easily be cut with hardly anything guaranteed.

I am not sure. I like the cheap vets, but also wonder if we would have been better off playing some of the younger guys. Instantly I get flashbacks to TJ Clemmons and Willie Beaver. That didn't work out too well.

Vikings tried to trade for Zeilter. That would have been a great trade for us.

I heard about that it would have been terrific. Hopefully Everton has a terrific season.
Did you see Matt Kalil signed with the Texans. Over 7 million with 2.25 million guaranteed. If he doesn't have any offsets from his Panthers deal (doubt it) he is gonna make plenty of money this year.
