I'm pretty sure Colome is on a one-year deal and even with the improved production since April I wouldn't want him back next year. His metrics were a bit iffy even before signing with the Twins and then he absolutely collapsed. It means little to me that he's been able to right the ship now that the team is out of the race for the post-season. Get new arms in the pen.

He has a 1 million dollar buy out. I wonder if the Twins exercise that buy out and maybe bring him back for another 2 million or something. I wouldn't hate that and if some other team wants to pay much more than that...ok fine sign someone else. The bottom line for me is I wouldn't hate to see him come back but I am also not going to shed any tears if he goes. If he really tears it up the rest of the way maybe he opts out...lol ok that's not going to happen.

Its actually a mutual option so I believe Colome can decline but he wouldn't get paid the buyout.

-Griffin Jax had a nice night, but he looks quite hittable to me. Good kid, but not in any of my plans for a future starter.

-Miguel Sano does not look like the same guy we watched struggling the first half of the season. His at bats look much more like rookie Sano than early 2021 Sano. There's a genuine buzz in the stadium every time he gets in the box again.

-I've never seen a HR hit as hard as the one Zimmer hit off Jax. They said 446 feet, but we all thought 500+. It hit the batter's eye in center hard enough to dent it. He and his teammates were laughing as he rounded the bases...they couldn't believe it.

-Jose Ramirez is really a character...never stops talking on the dugout steps.

-Arraez is a hitting machine who will win a batting title before he is 30. Plus, he plays the game with more joy than anyone else on the team with the possible exception of Tottuga.

-Great to see Colome pitching so well. He and Rogers will be a great end of game combo next year.

-This team is fun to watch again, and Buxton will be back soon.

I think Jax has done enough to make me consider him a legit depth option for next year. Yes he got hit last night but how happy would you be looking at the box score and seeing a young guy gave up 2 runs in 6 innings? To be honest this team could have used a decent 5th starter this year. Even a guy that can get through 5-6 innings and give you a chance most of the games has value.

It's sad that Maeda ran for Donaldson cause he's faster.

Mitch Garver looks like himself again it's great to see.

Colome 8th straight outing being good.

Minya change up is filthy and he was off today but still got the job done.

Jeffers now the all time leader in home runs for rookie catcher in Twins history with 11

I don't know what the Twins should do with Polanco at the end of the year. It's almost like Dozier 2.0 with him.

Also per Gleeman Twitter

Great return to High-A action for #MNTwins pitching prospect Matt Canterino, who had been out since May with an elbow injury.

Three shutout, no-hit innings, striking out eight of the 10 batters he faced.

Canterino now has a 0.78 ERA and 45 strikeouts in 23 innings this season.

Polonco isn't the player Dozier was at his height. Dozier was in the conversation for MVP a couple seasons. Personally I don't think Polonco has done enough in his career the Twins would get a haul big enough to trade him.

Did anyone notice the Dodgers pitching prospect the Twins passed on for a Dozier trade earlier Jose Deleon was let go and pretty much available to any team?

I watched Donaldson "run" in a highlight of a recent game. Dude looks like he has a pretty bad wheel. It's kinda fun that Maeda is running for someone but it's also kinda concerning. My guess is he has some pretty good speed.

If I recall the twins wanted Julio Urias

2016 Dozier best year
42 Home runs
99 Rbis
Average .271
OBP .359
OPS .886
Fielding Percentage .989

Polanco 2021 season through now 111 games
21 Home runs
64 RBIs
Average .268
OBP .335
OPS .814
Fielding Percentage .942

Pretty similar Players dozier with a little more pop and better defense. My point was I would not trust Polanco to repeat this just like I didn't trust Dozier to repeat his stats.

Twins win again even after Thorpe tried pitching hurt and loaded the bases in the 2nd inning. Too bad for Thorpe he is hurt again it seemed like at different times the last couple seasons he had a little something going but he hasn't been able to stay healthy. Will they even protect him this offseason?

Sano with a couple big hits and of course Polonco hits another walk off.

Colome blew a save but the pen as a whole deserves a lot of credit for keeping the game winnable for 10 innings. They have to try and do it again from the jump tomorrow with Gant starting against the Yankees. This team is still wildly flawed (2 more errors and Colome threw a ball in the dirt) but it's kinda fun. I mean they are playing without most of their best players.

Cruz was their best hitter.
Buxton isn't playing and is the best all around player on the roster
Berrios best starter (although Maeda is making a case now) is gone
Pineda one of the reliable starters is hurt again and had lost all this August games anyway.
Rogers their best relief pitcher isn't healthy

Perfect recipe to be 9-6 in August. Wait what?!? Lol

Jose Berrios

1-1 with 3.86 era with only 7k so far in 16.1 innings

JA Haap
2-0 with 1.62 era with 11ks in 16.1 innings

Blue Jays traded for the wrong guy. All seriousness I'll be watching Berrios Strike out numbers this month. This about time where he loses mph or two off his fastball and stops getting swings and misses.

Other notes

Miguel Sanó is hitting .242 with 18 homers, 18 doubles, and a .513 slugging percentage in his last 75 games. Too bad he strikes out so much :)

I jinxed Colome

Also Hip Hip Jorge!!!

Yeah, I'm blaming you for Colome's blown save, jester. He clearly reads this board regularly!

Polanco's clutch hitting is getting ridiculous. I was at Tuesday's loss with my son, and we were actually surprised when he didn't grand slam in the 8th for another game winner.

Sano looks like a completely different guy now. I had given up on him a month ago, but now I see him as our starting first baseman next year.

4 consecutive series wins, and against pretty good teams. Really enjoying watching this team right now, and it gets even better when Buxton returns in the next couple weeks.

Jorge Polanco ranks third in Win Probability Added. He trails only MVP candidates Ohtani and Guerrero Jr. I have to admit I didn't see this coming, but what a season he's having.
