Nik Stauskas was actually Flip's guy. When I asked Flip who he would draft at #13, he said Sauskas if he's available. I asked him his second choice and he said Zach LaVine. Sometimes it's better to be lucky than good.

I liked Stauskus that draft too. I had seen him play in person a couple times.

I'll admit that I also like Stauskas in that draft.

Jazz trading Bogdonovic for Olynyk and Saben Lee. It does create a 6 million trade exception for Utah and I guess Olynyk gives them more size. Olynyk also has 3 million guaranteed for next season. So far the return for worthwhile vet players for the jazz has been pretty underwhelming.

The Detroit Pistons are finalizing a trade to acquire Utah Jazz forward Bojan Bogdanovic for Kelly Olynyk and Saben Lee, sources tell ESPN.

Well, I'm not sure anyone saw that particular trade coming.

Utah didn't get much for a pretty good player in Bojan Bogdanovic. I'm surprised they couldn't coax a first-round pick out of a playoff team either before the season or nearing the deadline. That would have had more value than Kelly Olynyk and Saben Lee, and I think it was attainable.

On the other hand, I really like this trade for Detroit as they very quietly have an intriguing roster loaded with exciting young talent. They also didn't give up much of anything, which is a big plus. We're talking about Cade Cunningham, Jaden Ivey, Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart, Marvin Bagley Jr., Jalen Duren, and Hamidou Diallo with veterans around them such as Kemba Walker, Nerlens Noel, Alec Burks, Cory Joseph, and now Bogdanovic. I'm not betting on it, but I would not be surprised at all if they made the playoffs in the Eastern Conference this season.

Celtics coach out for potentially a year after a similar Rosas type situation.

Question. Is this really a big deal that the relationship is with somebody inside the organization? I guess you could argue that Rosas/Udoka can abuse their power and influence to coerce a relationship out of a woman and that's wrong, but it seems like it's a consensual relationship with two adults.

If a star player uses his fame/influence to sleep with women all around the US (world?), why is that not punished?

If Rosas would have been banging out a female Milwaukee Bucks exec. does that suddenly become okay? I mean, he still could technically be using his clout/power/influence in that relationship. Or is it okay since it was outside the Wolves org?

would be interested to hear the boards opinions as this appears to be the new norm in the NBA and probably sports

The problem is these worthwhile vets have significant salaries Bogdonvic was over 19 million. That's a lot of salary to send back. This is why I have continued to say that Utah may not get much back for the worthwhile players they still had on the roster after moving Gobert and Mitchell.

Meanwhile Detroit took advantage of the situation and got themselves an upgrade and added even more shooting. They took on some more salary for this year but got rid of some for next year. I agree Cam they low key are building up a roster that could surprise some people. This 2 for 1 deal also clears out a player as it seems like they had quite a few guys already and probably will still cut someone even after figuring out what to do with Kemba Walker. Back to their roster they have taken a shot at some younger players that are kinda reclamation projects and also brought in some vets they basically didn't have to give up anything to get. Next offseason Detroit will just have Bagley and guys on rookie deals on the books. Idk if they will be able to attract FAs but it never hurts to have that space to make moves even if a lot of teams probably will have cap space. Sometimes that means you can sign guys to cheap deals that can turn out to be worthwhile gets. Will Dwayne Casey be the right coach for that roster? He is a good coach so that usually helps.

Detroit easily my second favorite team in the league right now. They play hard and have some fun young talent. Hope they make the playoffs in the East.

There's just so much behind the scenes we don't know that it's tough to say anything.

Was it totally consensual? Did he use his position to give her perks or preference in some way? Did he use his position to punish her or control her in some way? Were they transparent about it before there was an investigation? Was he honest about it during the investigation? Was there any unprofessional behavior at work? Was he telling her things he wasn't supposed to that might have gotten out? Were there any conflicts of interest?

For the punishment to be just, you would think that the answer must have been yes to at least a couple of those. But who knows? There's no doubt that people used to get away with a lot more at the office than they do today. Have we overcorrected for that? It's a fair debate with reasonable arguments on both sides. But there's no way to say whether that's the case here because we just don't know much of anything.

At the very least, I think it's a potentially risky idea to get into a relationship with someone in your company lower than you on the organizational chart. Even if nothing inappropriate happens, most relationships break up, and lots of people have awkward relationships with exes. Now imagine having one of those awkward ex-partners working in your office, especially if you're one of the leaders. Even beyond the awkwardness, everybody's gonna talk about it, and how do you think that affects the respect in your leadership? It's just not worth it. There are plenty of fish working at other companies!
