Lol. Nothing to get over for me. I've never wanted to trade for Butler. He was a 65-game per season guy in his youth because of various different injuries. He's one of those guys that Bud Grant used to refer to when he said "it's always the same guys in the training room," meaning it's the same guys who keep missing games with one injury or another. But I think Thibs really wants Butler. And as much as the Wolves front office/ownership might detest Thibs, they'll do a deal with him if they think it helps their rebuild.

Sorry Lip it's just gotten old. I don't see it happening. You know who I bet Thibs loves more than Butler? Lebron. I bet he is obsessed with getting him. I think we trade for Lebron. :)

I wouldn't rule out Butler, but I doubt it's 60/40 or even 50/50. I think it's probably more like a 10-20% chance. He addresses sooooooo many issues: Wing defense, wing rebounding, wing toughness, veteran experience, moves Wiggins to SG. But it's hard to see us getting him unless we get a top 3 pick to dangle in front of the Bulls.

Alright... what about this...

Tony Parker might be done. Let's say the Spurs want space for a run at Chris Paul or George Hill (a Pop favorite). Pau Gasol is on the books at $16M (player option).

Reports are that Thibodeau wanted him last year.
The Wolves have plenty of cap room.
He's a big... and not completely done.
He's a veteran with legit winning experience.
It's only one year. But it could lead to more wins/development without compromising the future.

And, perhaps most importantly, he can be had for cheap. The Spurs will need to move him for the cap space and not so much for what they get in return.

Thoughts?

[Note: Actually, scratch Chris Paul. The guy is in line to make $200M from the Clippers. I can't see him taking THAT much of a paycut.]

I don't know how the Clippers give CP3 $200 million after a first round exit and I think the 5 year max is the only thing that could keep him in LA.

Abe - I would welcome Pau with open arms.

I'd definitely welcome Gasol. He's not first on my list of priorities, as I still think a mobile PF or big SF is the higher priority, but on the list of options to explore, I'd certainly include that one. His game has aged quite well.

If you basically get him for just cap space you do it and live with the fact that it may hurt you when it comes to matchups at times. He is the type of vet that would help this team a lot and it's just 1 more year on his deal right? Note: Pau has a player option for the upcoming season.

There really isn't any perfect option. Even Milsap missed 11 games this year with assorted injuries that at least has to make you wonder about a long term deal. I think the best thing to do is overpay Jamychal Green and make the Grizz really think hard about how far they want to go into the luxury tax. Remember they have to also consider resigning Zach and Allen this offseason. Green has the benefit of youth on his side and his career arc is still going up. That's where i would start.

he is definitely my plan C after Milsap & Ibaka, I see a big drop off from there to players like Patrick Patterson. If it got to that point I would rather go after Reddick and just hope we end up with someone liek Markkannen

I'd love to pick up Pau on the cheap. I do think it's plausible because I think Paul's competitive nature will drive him to seek a team that has a good chance of winning a title while he's still young enough to be a core piece.
