You're not going to beat that team.
The Playoffs

Re: The Playoffs
In a team setting even the best of all teams need to have semi role players right? There's only so many basketballs to go around. obviously I can't knock your team, but the reason I picked a guy like Rodman , Miller and Magic is becuz they were all great without having to control the ball for 18 of the 24 seconds. One dished and played multiple position s, one fought threw screens to get his shots and hit big shots, and one sucked in every miss with an uncanny ability to pop that rebound back out for a wide open shooter . I like the chemistry my team would have . Do u think Wilt, Jordan and LeBron would play nice together? I can't see Jordan giving way to LeBron or vice versa.

Your alpha males would be Jordan and Wilt. Lebron, Magic, and Duncan are all guys who can facilitate and make other players better. I picked these based on how well they could function as a unit.

My team's gonna be able to switch basically everything on defense. Ball screens are no longer a big advantage. You've got Hakeem and KG patrolling the paint. LeBron gets to be the ultimate glue guy facilitating and playing full-effort defense.
I think my five's going to be the hardest to score on.
Most of us have Magic/Jordan/LeBron (or Bird) as our ball-handlers so the frontcourt choices are what make the difference.
PS: Bill Russell simply can't hang against any of the top notch centers we're talking about. Not a chance.

Make him do ANYTHING but shoot for chrissakes.
Ha, James Jones. Man, talk about a pure specialist. 87% of his shots this year have been 3-pointers! All he does is park himself in a corner and wait patiently.

Q - I like your team with Rodman. He could cover anyone. Even Shaq in the day. I would probably go with Shaq and Stockon to fill out 1/5 for me. Shaq just couldn't be left alone and I just think Stockon could be the shooter and play better defense then Nash.
Rodman might be the greatest role player in the history of the game. He is the ultimate example of someone that can significantly impact a game without ever scoring a single point. He averaged 19 rebounds a game at the age of 30. Think about that. The next closest guy that year was Kevin Willis at 15.5.
True. But Rodman became a liability on offense as his career progressed. That's why I usually include Kevin Garnett on those mythical all-time best teams. He can play defense. He can pass. And he can score.
But he thrived in a complementary role and didn't always need to get a certain number of touches. The tragedy in Garnett's career was that McHale seemed to realize Garnett was the NBA's all-time best "second fiddle" after everybody else already knew that. (see Danny Ainge)
Hard to argue with KG as a role-playing 4, however I might still go with peak Rodman on a team filled with alpha-scorers and playmakers.
As far as his offense, he's one of the best offensive rebounders to ever play the game. He's a serial possession-extender and because of that, he is a great asset on offense.

Ball screens are a big advantage when Rodman is setting them and irratating the fuck out of guys to the point where they retaliate and get suspended for multiple games becuz well let's face it. The league is soft now! Haha.
Plus I didn't want to come off as a big homer, but along with Magic I'll take KG on any team I'm building . :)

Re: The Playoffs
I had a pretty fun idea for the board, but I'm not sure everyone would be for it or have the time for it. We could do some type of all-time great snake draft to make a 9-man rotation. Think it'd be fun to test your historical knowledge of the game and see what type of teams we get. Meaning only one team gets MJ; one team gets Magic, one team gets LeBron, etc. Then you build that team based on the draft order. Not sure how we'd determine the order, but it's just an idea. I liked doing this with my buddies in high school during a boring class.

That's a fun idea , how do we decide a winner? I'll humbly offer up my unbiased opinion on the matter!! Lol
