Apparently, the Wolves will sign Bolmaro today. I'd rather keep him in Europe for another year, but that's not going to happen. I've gone back and forth on Bolmaro. I didn't like the pick last year. But i was impressed by his play in Europe this past season. Then he turned struggled in the Olympics against better competition. I've watched a lot of Bolmaro video. He seems to lack the level of quickness and athleticism needed to excel in the NBA. We'll see. I remain hopeful, but skeptical.
Bolmaro had a really nice string of games with his club team, but then began to trail off in the latter third of the season or so. He was a non-factor in the Olympics. I think this is a mistake and it hamstrings other potential moves we could make to improve the team.
Yep, I think he's in town, and we might even have a press conference today or tomorrow. While I agree with the consensus here that I would have rather seen him stay in Europe for one more year, I can't help feeling some excitement about this kid. My gal and I would have gone to Vegas and hung out with monster had he played, but alas that didn't happen. I don't expect him to get many minutes this season and I also see him as a 2 rather than a 1 (that could change, and the article calls him a 1), but I really liked what I saw from him defensively in video...he gets after it. If he develops a lot more polish offensively, he and Jaden could be a formidable pair on the defensive end. Wishful thinking I know, but heck, I'm a Wolves fan.

Does this open up a Hernangomez for Tyus trade?
Taurean Prince for Patrick Beverley would be fun for a year. Minnesota hasn't had a tone setter in years.
But I'm not so sure Memphis would want Prince.
Perhaps, but Prince is a wing with size that is a good shooter. The Grizzlies are also thin at the wing. Both players are on expiring deals. While a deal may never transpire, it's not too far off in terms of value for each team. The question to me is who else is calling Memphis for a point guard? They now have Ja Morant, Tyus Jones, Rajon Rondo, and the aforementioned Beverley. Those are all established players that will not tolerate being buried on the bench so something has to give. Whether Minnesota gets involved or not is a different story.
3's or 4s
-------
Clark
Brooks
Anderson
Bane
Tillman
Z. Williams (#10 pick)
Wouldn't Prince be just another guy in that bunch? In fact, I could see him behind all of those guys either for current production or potential. That's while fully understanding that Rondo and Beverley have minimal role on the team either. I just think Memphis would want to unload Beverley for something other than a lateral move (deep rotation player). Maybe taking back an even worse player but with a pick sweetener if nothing else.
Furthermore, Beverley has never played on a losing team. Some vets like him might embrace being a leader for a young team probably out of the playoff picture. Others will scoff at that as they near their mid 30s.
[Note: I do dig the concept of a fully engaged Beverley on the Wolves. But with questions of him buying in... I agree with Hicks that Prince could offer some value for the Wolves, too.]
The Memphis Grizzlies are trading Patrick Beverley to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Jarrett Culver and Juancho Hernangomez, sources tell ESPN.

This is even better than I could have expected. I had a feeling Gersson Rosas might get involved in that logjam Memphis had after the Eric Bledsoe deal. Great trade.

Absolutely love it! Beverley is the AJ Pyrzinski of basketball...you hate him on the other team, and love him if he's on yours.
Part of me wonders if Culver might have the lightbulb go on someday, but it's a very small part...

Working light bulbs need electricity... valuable NBA players need skill or elite size or elite athleticism.

The Patrick Beverley deal opens up a roster spot, even if the Wolves re-sign both Vanderbilt and JMac. And I think the acquisition of Beverley makes the Wolves a more attractive landing spot for Millsap.
The Beverley deal is a wash financially. That means the Wolves still only have about $4.8M under the luxury tax to offer Millsap, assuming the Wolves don't withdraw their qualifying offers to Vanderbilt or JMac. That doesn't seem like enough to sign Millsap. But if the Wolves rescind their qualifying offer to JMac and let him walk, they'll have about $6.3M to pay Millsap. I can see the Wolves doing that and signing Millsap to a 2-year, $13M deal - maybe giving Millsap a player option on the 2nd year.
