I wouldn't trade Bennett or Waiters for Young unless he opts in. The guy has been on bad Philly teams for years. He's done losing and he can opt out and become a UFA next summer. We're not going to be in a position to win right away with a Wiggins deal. That adds risk to adding an expiring deal for a vet who can choose to leave for nothing after next year. I don't think we should give up a long-term asset like Waiters or Bennett without him opting in.

I like Young and he is coming into his prime, but he might be expensive to keep.
I am lean towards the Bulls.
If we can get McDermott, JButler, Mirotic, and a 1st for Love I would be happy to move forward with them.
All are under 25. All are considered Smart players and pretty proven. I think they all would like playing here. I see them growing into a solid team in 3 years.
Rubio, Lavine, McDermott, Mirotic, Dieng could be a strong group for years to come.
Add in that we would have Butler, Pek, and likely Brewer aound to guide them. It would be a good group.

If the Sixers like Waiters so much, why not go for broke? Waiters/Bennett/1st for Embiid. Then next offseason, give Aldridge a call and tell him to join the future super team of Ricky/Lavine/Wiggins/Aldridge/Embiid for the max. Then throw up the middle finger to the rest of the league as we win "not 4, not 5, not 6, not 7". You want a team with potential and that team has GOAT potential or you go down with the ship trying to be a contender at least. Aldridge could age well with that team as they'll hit their prime on the downside of his career and extend the run.

I like the idea of adding a proven vet like Young to what would be a very inexperienced roster.
Phili is a great partner as they can certainly absorb some of the 1 year deals needed to expand this trade. But what would it look like assuming they want Waiters out of the deal?
Wolves get: Wiggins ($5.5M) / Young ($9.1M) / Bennett ($5.6M)
Cavs get: Love ($15.7M) / Martin ($6.8M)
Phili gets: Waiters ($4.1M) / Barea ($4.5M EXP) / Moute ($4.4M EXP) / Cle 1st (worst of their 2 available)
While I think the Wolves could use Martin's scoring, I added him to this deal because everything we are hearing has the Wolves pushing his contract on Cleveland. I think you have to just risk taking on Young as he has a player option, which he is sure to turn down after next season. While he will not be cheap, we would control him if we want him. Wolves shed $31.4M while taking back only $20.2. Puts us about $6M under cap, which isn't huge, but still allows for some flexibility. I would take that money and go out and get Sessions on a 3 year deal. Always liked that guy, and he is just a solid player that can help this young team.
Roster:
C: Pek / Dieng / Turiaf
PF: Young / Bennett / FA Vet Min
SF: Wiggins / Bud / Muhammed
SG: Brewer / Lavine / Shved
PG: Rubio / Sessions / FA Vet Min
Not sure what I think of that roster, but it seems a realistic deal if in fact Young is in this type of deal.

That roster would guarantee you one thing, a very high pick next year also.

Re: @SamAmicoFSO 's latest that says Sixers are hot after Dion Waiters...wouldn't be a bit suprised to see Thad Young end up w/ Wolves too
Interesting. I'm not as high on Thad Young as some here, but adding him would be a pretty good move all things considered.
He'd be an efficient 20 PPG scorer paired with Rubio.
Not sure he can be a 20ppg scorer cam but he will be a good get. Undersize for the pf position but a very smart, efficient and athletic player who conducts himself and play the game the right way.
He will be better than tt or bennet if we get him.
Whats more interesting is philly possibly getting in as the 3rd team. We can definitely dump a salary or two to them.
Averaged 18 a game last year while opposing defenses focused in on him. His efficiency dipped as a result of it (still 45% FG), but he's a terrific finisher around the rim and good luck if you're an opposing PF trying to stay with him in transition. Like you said, he is a very smart player. Makes smart cuts and unlike Shabazz, he makes the right "extra pass" consistently. It isn't even close in my mind who I'd rather have out of Young, Thompson and Bennett. Give me Thad all day.

Sheridan's reporting that the Bulls have offered McDermott, Gibson and Mirotic. I don't know if that's a legit offer or if it's Chicago assisting Minnesota in forcing Cleveland's hand. But if that is a real offer, I want Butler and a 1st instead of Mirotic.

After sleeping on it, I'm back on the Cleveland package. Quality is better than quantity when trading your star, and Wiggins is the only guy in any trade package that has a chance to become a star himself.

I posted something similar last night, but IMO unless the Sixers were to take on Martin there is no way they get a 1st. Young for Waiters is more than enough IMO given Waiters is someone they covet. They were already looking to unload him & get younger.
I just don't know how I feel about an undersized PF. Granted we've seen plenty of 6'8ish PFs do very well in the league.
EDIT: I'd also want to unload Brewer & keep JJ since he's an expiring. Especially if Martin is traded b/c we need to keep some offensive punch on the bench.

This sums up my perspective 100%!
