Ha, the news is finally out! Funny, I checked Zimmer's wiki page yesterday afternoon, and they had him as the "former" coach of the Minnesota Vikings a day before the actual news came out.
Certainly a move for the better, depending on who they bring in.

Maybe.
Obviously, it needed to be done. But I think this team takes a significant step back (even from halfway/sorta decent mediocrity)... how long that lasts remains to be seen.
Zimmer had to go. He had his issues. But there are most definitely NFL head coaches worse than Mike Zimmer.

But isn't change sometimes good for change's sake? Zimmer was there for 8 years and his methods felt a bit stale. I don't think he was a bad coach, but you have to wonder what a fresh pair of eyes and highly motivated new blood could do.
(caveat: I know next to nothing about football coaching and what "good" even looks like)

Q that was a low blow on Zimmer asking for fresh eyes...just kidding but I couldn't help it!
I think Abe makes some good points. They go from mediocrity (which means some level of competence) to now needing to get both the GM and head coach spots right. Will the people they hire be better than the guys they just moved on from? Idk only time will tell.
To me other than the actual hires that are made the QB situation is gonna be interesting. With a completely new group anything is on the table.
Also there is likely no or less ties to the current players so some people could be traded. I hate saying it but a guy like Thielen if you can get some value back in a trade makes sense to move. I think they should consider rebuilding somewhat.
