What guy that's stash able would people be excited about or at least kinda intrigued by?
I watched some video of Montero. I would like him at 48 or 50.
I know Hugo Besson had a poor shooting season in the NBL but I kinda like him a bit as a flyer if basically I just needed to stash someone with a later pick. Is there someone better? Probably but I think he has some nice skills and has some decent size for a guy that might be able to play as a combo guard of sorts.
Second Round Big Board

With 3 picks in the 2nd round it makes sense to pay attention to potential 2nd-round picks. Of course, it's likely that the Wolves will trade at least one and probably two if not all three of those 2nd-round picks.

I like all four guys I listed, so it depends on what you are looking for. For pure upside I kind of like Nzosa, but he is quite raw. Kamagate is a decent big who is more NBA ready than Nzosa. Best outside shooter Procida. Montero best combo guard. I am not that excited with Besson.

If Procida is there at 48, the Wolves should take him and stash him. He's a special shooter. And he's also pretty athletic and long.

Get Montero and groom him to replace D'Lo. Otherwise, get used to having D'Lo here for a long time.

You mean there are literally NO other options?
I think we have a year or so to figure out the PG slot and nothing has to be done this offseason.

I agree, Q. I'll also add that we can't count on any PG we draft this year as our long-term starting PG alternative to DLO. That's way too speculative. No telling whether any of this year's PG prospects will even stay in the League long term, much less be as good as one-time all-star DLO. However, I'm fine drafting a PG with great potential in the hope that he can develop into our starting PG of the future. The draft should be all about acquiring talent for the mid-term and long--term success of the franchise.
There are a few pretty good PG prospects in this draft, but other than Dyson Daniels, none of them blow me away - with the possible exception of Jean Montero. His shooting stats are not impressive, especially considering his level of competition. However, he's an exciting prospect based on the eye test. I think he's incredibly gifted. He has a fantastic handle and tremendous feel for the game. He plays smart and with passion. And he's only 18 years old. Of all the PG prospects, including Chandler and Ty Ty, I'd actually prefer Montero. If he's available at #40, the Wolves should grab him.

Re: Second Round Big Board
Two of the concerns about Steph Curry coming out of college were his size and the strength of schedule he faced. But he was a lights out shooter who led the NCAA in scoring his senior year, so he still went in the top 10. And my sources tell me he has turned our okay. Now, I would never compare Max Abmas to Curry, but he's another undersized lights-out shooter who led the NCAA in scoring his junior year. He might be worth a look with one of our second round picks. One of the reasons I liked Ant coming out of the draft was he led Georgia in scoring his freshman year despite having 2 or 3 defenders constantly draped on him...it was a safe bet he would be a much more efficient scorer in the NBA. Abmas also was the only scoring option on Oral Roberts, but still made almost 40% of his threes...more often than not from beyond NBA 3-point distance. I think he could be an explosive scorer off the bench. He's never going to start in the NBA because of his defensive limitations, but a guy who can get buckets in a hurry like him might be a good second round pick.

I don't think they can go into next offseason completely reliant on a rookie PG in a weaker draft class to elevate this team.
In reality the best FA PG for next summer is on our roster and that's D'Lo.
Entering next off-season with D'Lo out the door, J-Mac as our only PG and this team having to pray Caleb Love or someone like that becomes THE guy at PG immediately is a treacherous scenario.

If the Wolves brass decides to move on from DLO, I think the sooner we prepare for this the better. Even if DLO is here next year, the Wolves can map out their transition plans. On our roster, we have JMAC, Bolmaro and Beverley. I don't know if Ant will ever be our primarily ballhandler but I would think his ballhandling role will increase. Then you have free agency: guys like Tyus, Wright and Cory Joseph, trade candidates like Monte Morris, Lonzo Ball, Brogdon, Coby White, Fultz or using the draft to acquire a guy that can be groomed to eventually take over (Daniels in trade up, or draft TyTy, :Chandler or Nembhard). The thing is we don't need a point guard to be a big time scorer, just a facilitator who takes care of the ball, can pass and can play defense. I am confident we can get what we need from this pool of players. However, we could do nothing too this year, and hope LeBron or VanVleet wants to come to the Wolves in 2023 to play with Ant :)

But is he, WW? I like DLo and would not be devastated if we couldn't move him this summer. But my dream would still be that some team out there values him like some on this board do, and trades us a starting PF, and then we sign the local boy to be our starting PG at a much cheaper price tag. Look at the comparative stats for DLo and Tyus last season:
https://stathead.com/basketball/pcm_finder.cgi?player_id2=jonesty01&p1yrfrom=2022&player_id1=russeda01&p2yrfrom=2022&sum=0&request=1
DLo will always be a higher volume scorer than Tyus, but I'll take the cheaper guy by almost every other measure. Better offensive rating, better defensive rating, much better A:TO ratio, better 3-point accuracy, better WS and Ws/48, better eFG%, better BPM, better rebounder per 36 minutes. Other than PPG, I can't find an important measure in which DLo had a better season than Tyus. And for those who see Tyus as a backup rather than a starter, his record as a starter filling in for Ja was nothing short of spectacular...he shines in a starter role.
I get that DLo is a much better shot creator (although he has never been an efficient scorer), but with high-volume guys like Ant and KAT in the starting lineup, we don't need shot creation...we need a facilitator. And defenses need to respect Tyus beyond the arc now with his 39% 3-point stat, so he provides spacing also in addition to being an excellent facilitator and elite ball-protector. And the defensive gap between the two is immense.
So if PPG is the measure, DLo is the best free agent PG out there. But it's difficult to make a case for him over Jones if you dig into the stats deeper
