So what is Shabazz? Starting 3? Backup 2/3?
What is LaVine? 2 or Backup PG/SG?

Possibly our starting SF. At worst he's a really nice scorer off the bench.

LaVine's best role might be in a Jamal Crawford role. Combo guard off the bench. Spot start maybe.

Me too! We should skip the next couple games and see if Mo can pull off a repeat performance.

Holy cow, when guys get in the zone like that, it's just unreal. It defies the idea that shooting is just a random selection of odds. When guys get hot like that, holy cow. It's crazy. Are there other sports where that sort of thing happens? I mean he was just chucking up off balance closely contested shots from long range and knocking them down like they were uncontested layups. I remember seeing Melo go off for like 30 points against us in a quarter once. Same thing. It didn't matter what he did, it was just going in no matter what.

Even if we go .500 with Ricky which is pretty much the best I think we could do, we would still finish around 27 wins which is where the 6th worst Lakers were last year. We could go 21-21 down the stretch and that would mean most of the other bad teams would have to stay the same or get worse for us to drop significantly in the top 10. Boston is really the only team I see as getting worse in the second half of the season. Everyone else has pretty much stood pat. And in the East they all, with the exception of Philly and NY, are only 2 games out of the 8th spot which is crazy. Hopefully we go like 16-26 down the stretch so we keep the top 3 pick while picking up some wins because there is a good enough drop off in talent from the top 3 where I think we need to stay there and hope nobody jumps us and kicks us to 4.

Here's a question I have though. Say Philly gets the number 1 pick and we get the 3 pick and they really like Okafor and Mudiay. Would you offer them the 3rd pick (assuming it would be Mudiay) for Embiid straight up and do you think they'd take that deal? Would you trade Mudiay for Noel if that is the deal they wanted? I just don't see them going into next season with 3 centers in Noel, Embiid and Okafor if they have a chance to pick up Mudiay as well.

I also missed the game, but watched a replay of the 4th quarter last night...it was unreal. Mo was taking shots that, if he missed them and we were losing, this board would have been going nuts. But they were going in! He was shaking his head in disbelief, and the bench was jumping up and down...nice for the team to experience a little joy for the first time in a long while.

To answer your question, drew, I think getting hot in basketball like that is unique in sports. I have played a lot of baseball in my life and there are times where the ball looks like a beach ball when I'm hitting (and other times it looks like an aspirin tablet!), regardless of who is pitching///it's such a mental thing.. But I don't think that experience is nearly as powerful as what Mo was feeling Tuesday night. Like he said, he was throwing it in the ocean! Really fun to watch!

Now where did I put that proposition ticket I bought in Vegas a couple months ago, you know, the 10000 to 1 bet that Mo Williams would have the high game in the NBA this year?

Khans, I'm on record as saying that we will go .500 once Ricky is ready to go, as long as he is close to 100%, and that will leave us with a pick around 6. As I've mentioned elsewhere, the immensely talented Karl Towns is still sitting at 6 in nbadraft.net's mock draft, not based on his potential (I don't think), but based on his modest stats compared to other lottery picks. I'm hoping their projection is accurate, because most other mocks still have him 3rd.

When guys get in that zone, it's like they always have a sense of exactly where the basket is even if they're not looking at it, and their muscle memory is just absolutely locked in. That Carmelo quarter was about the craziest thing I've seen, but I've also seen Jamal Crawford get hot like that too. I've seen some guys on the playground do it for stretches, but obviously, defense is always a little suspect on the playground!
