The pre-Covid 1.38 valuation of the Timberwolves implies its value in an open market, not in a highly controlled sale. The Wilfs are probably out because 1.2 billion for an NBA franchise that has to stay in Minneapolis is a ridiculous investment. If Taylor is really serious about keeping the team in Minnesota he's going to need to drastically change his perception on price. I don't see how he can have it both ways.
The Wolves are going to sell for well over 1 billion. There are very few franchises available and it's pretty clear that once the pandemic is over you will likely have a great investment. Supply and demand is a pretty big key. Maybe a buter can save even JUST 50 million (Lol) on the price right now (probably more) and you have the means to buy that would be a nice discount. NBA teams value have just continued to go up. Glen is in a good enough position. He is willing to sell likely in part because there are some worthwhile offers out there. Will he have to lower his expectations a bit? Probably but nothing too crazy.
Monster - I think there is going to be some concern about buying a sports team at this time. When will fans be welcomed back? Will fans come back? What happens if the rating for the NBA games this summer subpar? There has to be a discount due to these risks.
Then you have the whole Minneapolis black eye and having a lot of people with money to go to games not wanting to go back. I know multiple 20+ year Viking season ticket holders that are not going back. They love the Vikings, but don't want to support Minneapolis and its leaders. That money is being spent on other things. I think we are seeing a shift in mindsets to distancing in general.
It will be interesting to watch what happens. How much of the world will go back to normal? Will people want to travel? Will companies want to spend the money they have been saving on travel again? I am looking forward to traveling again for pleasure and business.
I've read posts from people that won't watch because of all the politics being pushed now by sports players. Some people are going away. Ratings will be slightly lower I think then normal. Of course no fans paying for tickets and merchandise will suffer too.

I'm sure the Vikings will have no problem finding other people to take those seats. I said there will be a decrease in value but it's not going to be something massive (To lower it to under a billion) or let's be honest Glen probably won't even sell. So if people want Glen to sell they better hope for a bidding war...or at least a scuffle or something. There are businesses that are doing quite well during the pandemic and likely don't have much to worry about. I think there should be oncern about what happens when things open back up again but I also think there is still a ton of people that are hungry for something anything to do and quite frankly new ownership would probably Give a little boast of the Wolves chances of getting people to have interest...even for a short time.
To me I Simply see Glen selling at a discount because of his age and uncertainty Etc etc. I see someone looking to get in at a discount and at a time where you may take a hit early but it pays off later It's a longer team invest plus you own a pro franchise and if you make it a winner you are going to be revered. If Glen was Like at least 20 years younger he would probably be someone looking to buy in. lol
Gotcha Monster - I am thinking if it will be sold it will be 1-1.2B shaved off.
I will be curious about the season ticket holder front. Companies back a bunch of these and people use them as tax write-offs. The people I know used them as such for their small business. I have urban friends selling or renting homes and moving to the suburbs. It will be interesting. The state has huge blackeye across the country.

I'd be curious to learn more what you mean by this negative view people have about MN right now.
