Training Camp!
Re: Training Camp!
Okay, looks like a lot more news is starting to flow. They must have heard me! ;-)
Who is Ade Murkey and should we be excited about him?!? (4-year grad out of Denver)

He is a local kid sort of an MGH body type but he looks more a little more explosive vertically. How excited should we be? He might be pretty good in Iowa or wherever the D-league games are played. :)

I have to say I have been less than impressed with the Wolves media relations the past week. You would think they would put more effort into promoting this new-look team and generating some enthusiasm. Maybe it will come with start of full team practices, but they have not had a good start...
I agree. I can also attest that this organization hasn't been particularly good from a season ticket holder relations perspective either in recent years. The Wolves organization was much better during the McHale, David Kahn and Flip Saunders regimes at interacting with season ticket holders. Kevin McHale held a lot of events where he would talk basketball at length with season ticket holders. David Kahn, for all his faults, did the same. He hosted a number of breakfast meetings where small groups of season ticket holders could discuss the Wolves with a lot of back and forth. Flip Saunders was great about reaching out to and talking with season ticket holders both individually and in groups. But the organization suddenly became terrible in their season ticket holder relations during the Thibs' regime and they're no better now under Rosas.
Of course, most importantly, the team needs to win. But this is a team that had the second or third worst attendance in the League last year. So it also needs to be far more proactive, creative and diligent in reaching out to and generating excitement among season ticket holders and fans generally. I understand that the pandemic makes it more difficult. But the Rosas regime wasn't doing a good job in this area last season before the pandemic. And being more proactive in reaching out to fans both directly and via the media is even more important during this pandemic.
Bottom line is that this team needs new ownership. And because I don't think this front office is good at either basketball or fan relations, I see a complete make-over of the front office by the new owner, whoever that turns out to be. We just have to hope the new ownership is competent. If not, we'll just see a replay of the recent past and eventually the Wolves will be playing in Seattle. If I'm wrong about the incompetence of our front office, then perhaps we'll see a winning team and interest in the team should follow. But it's a highly competitive sports and entertainment market, so that still won't be enough for this franchise to be successful.

Every day a few media availability have come out. Today was an interesting one Malik Beasley. No questions about off court stuff just basketball. He did say he liked to Pick Rubio's brain about basketball and liked to learn more how to be a playmaker. His answer to how he fit in was that he doesn't have to have the ball to score and named a couple actions that played to his strengths that they can run.
Vanderbilt was on today too. Over 600 views on YouTube so far. Gonna assume about 230 of those were Q's. :)

Apparently his nickname is Vando!
And yeah, ever since I complained about the lack of coverage, a lot more stuff has been put out there. Probably had more to do with full team practices starting than my complaint...

Monster, David Kahn is gonna have the last laugh here. Rubio is gonna produce more titles here then Steph Curry did at GS.

I heard Rosas has a decently paid intern that reads fan message boards and recently was alerted to this one. So yeah I'm sure you had some influence. :)

Ricky was playing with the kids. Hopefully he gets some good chemistry with Edwards and Culver early. I dont see how a healthy KAT and Dlo cant get us top 10-15 in offense. Its really going to be whether the starters can defend, because I actually think our bench is going to be relatively decent if we can maintain good health.

I wonder if this guy signed for Peanuts.

Building up that Iowa Wolves roster. He shot the 3 poorly last year in the G-league but is an excellent FT shooter and based on some quick video he has a nice shot. Very good rebounder for a guard. 6'7" with a 7' wingspan from what I can gather. He looks pretty lengthy.
