Not so much because I think Ryan is some sort of genious, but because #1) it's a players league, coaches don't make as big an impact as some suggest, and #2) our assistant coaching staff is very strong, and clearly has a ton of input on what the Wolves are trying to do on the court.
I suggest the improvement we have seen on both sides of the court from the first pre-season game to tonight's game is pretty strong endorsement for our coaching staff and our front office.
This take is spot on, and why I was one of the 3-4 votes. I didn't go 1-2 like Tim because Ryan is still young and unproven, and I don't like the lineup he uses to begin games. But it seems like we have a very cohesive coaching group, and the head coach deserves some credit for that. I also continue to think Ryan connects with this young team and they dig playing for him, and there's no question that he has them playing harder than any Wolves team in recent history.
Ryan was clearly a country club choice at the time and fans should rightly be skeptical, but that doesn't mean he won't prove to be the right coach. He's young, so there's a chance he may be coaching our favorite team for decades.

He never did anything and still hasn't.
Many people will stick to their narratives no matter the evidence. If the Wolves won an NBA Title you'd probably say it was in spite of Ryan and they should have swept because of him. Some ego thing.

Ok? Tell me why he is good.
You sound like a toddler.
He relates the players very well.
He is a coachable coach.
He has been around basketball with his Dad all his life.
He has been an assistant for many years.
He had a nice head coaching run in summer league.
He is being given a chance to grow as a coach, while his players grow as a team.
He doesn't make derogatory comments about other people.

The Wolves are 2-0.
Playing together as a team and playing hard.
Playing very good defense.
Edwards is excelling.
Culver too.
Put together a solid staff of assistants.
But I also think a HC doesn't matter that much, that it's 90% on the players to win or lose, play hard and improve. Coaching can help or hurt relatively but it's not as drastic as most feel. So I give the majority of credit to the players in wins and blame when they lose.

I don't think it really makes much difference who the coach is under this regime. It's not going to work, and to me at least, it's been apparent for quite a while.
I agree with your main points as I think lineups are dicatated to Ryan via Rosas. I like Ryan a bit more as I think he is better than average at player development, works well with others and is a calm presence and is pretty much the Anti-Thibs who I am so glad is gone.
Tom Thibodeau is probably the best head coach of all-time when it's all said and done. Just look at the track record. Look at the numbers. Minnesota had him and let him get away. There's just no way Ryan Saunders can compare with that. We should be stoked if he's 1/10th the head coach that Thibs is. Thibs has probably forgot more basketball than Saunders will ever know. Respect the best of all-time.

Cam you must be Thib's rent boy. Thibs was so unimpressive as coach of the Wolves, but he was an even worse GM.

You just couldn't recognize his greatness. Greatest of all-time. Secretly you know it too but just don't want to give in.
