It's not the end of the world. We know D'Angelo Russell is streaky, but he's also been imperative to the team's success this season. He was also scorching hot from January to mid-March. Relax.
Worst-case scenario is Minnesota doesn't extend him this summer and they play out the final year of his deal and re-evaluate. The trade talk is off base, in my opinion, unless you have some sort of plan to upgrade the position. And like I said, good luck.
I dont think its totally off base. I think the general point of Dlo needing to take a paycut in an extension is fair. If he is unwilling to do that I would rather the team look at a trade then let him walk.
Nobody's arguing for D-Lo to get the max here. I think it's pretty understood that he's not going to get that, but his agents will try before getting denied and beginning real negotiations. And if they're unable to find an acceptable deal on both sides Minnesota will have him play out his final year and re-evaluate with more data.
What is ridiculous to me is that it's been 10 uncharacteristically rough games for the guy after being on fire for months and we're having this conversation now. Where were these concerns over the last 20-25 games when he was cooking? Like I said, it just feels like a knee jerk reaction. Prisoner of the moment shit. Everyone needs to relax.
It seems like that really is pretty much what you're doing actually lol... otherwise what exactly are you arguing. I'm fine with 20 mil per year, and it seems like that's what everyone else is saying too. Your line about who we could replace him with is such a cop out dude... you act like this would be the first instance where a team would have to replace a player.

Your first couple of sentences made no sense. I'm aware D-Lo's in a slump. I also don't think there's much to it. He's streaky. He also just torched defenses for two and a half months and was bound to cool off. He'll come out of it eventually.
Also, we haven't seen you around here for quite a while. I wonder why that is. Huh.

Wouldn't it help if our center was bigger and stronger? I don't know. Seems pretty reasonable to me. This thread turned into a circus, though.

"What about Boston's defense makes life difficult?"
Jaylen Nowell: "That's tough because I kind of had it going."
Ha. I love it. In an otherwise disappointing game, I thought Nowell was very good. Minnesota needs more of him.

Funny how D-Loser and Duke only show up to make a snide remark or comment. Yet D-Loser was nowhere to be found when DLO had that great run of games. Shocking.

Once again Cam I said I'm perfectly cool with Dlo at 20 to possibly 25 million a year the question is would he take that I don't know. He does disappear in way to many games in it opinion to be excited to bring him back at 30+ million a year.
Once again I do like Dlo a good amount, I actually do and I have been petty consistent with my praise for him throughout the year just worried about Dlo long term at big money

Boston has been the 2nd best team in basketball for more than 1/2 the season.
They are 11-1 on this current streak and have been up 20+ in 6 straight games.
They are the best defensive team in the NBA... and it hasn't been close over the past 40 games.
They are legit. And depending what stats we use and how we value players... Marcus Smart has been Russell's equal. Both have nearly identical shooting splits. And Both are also very polarizing. As much as we love/hate Russell... Boston fans do similarly for Smart. And I'm pretty certain a significant percentage wouldn't trade Smart for Russell straight up.
Not a single person here thinks Russell is worth what he's making. So it will be interesting when extension talks begin. He's a key player for the wolves, and every good player has moments of being "on fire." But add it up and he's had a poor shooting season. And he's struggled a lot over the past 15 games, averaging about 12 ppg on sub 40% shooting.

The reality is if you want Russell to make say 25 million instead of 30+ million you probably want to see a couple stinkers here and there because that will keep his value down.
Another thing to consider is that Russell is shooting a lower percentage rage in March but he is also taking fewer shots only 12 a game. Hasn't the offense been humming? March is his best assist month (per 36) of the season. Obviously the team needs him to score some night but it seems like I'm general Russell's game has grown this season in a few different facets. His value isn't just whether or not he scores. That's a winning basketball player.

Towns has played at various weights and IMHO it hasn't made any difference. He might as well play lighter and use his other strengths to his advantage. Get that bigger player that can help him out and compliment the other bigs including Vanderbilt and Naz.
