One of the best college games I've ever seen, and not just because it went to OT and Suggs hit that crazy last second shot. The level of shot making and play making was just off the charts throughout the entire game.

Man if we don't get a top three pick this year...I don't even want to think about how depressed I'll be

I kinda forgot about the games today but I watched the 15 min extended highlights. It looked like a fantastic game. UCLA took Gonzaga the undefeated team in college basketball to OT and it would have been double OT. That program may be getting an influx of talent if they keep having success. They had a hell of a run this year.

I haven't seen these top guys a ton. Suggs is the guy I've probably seen the most of. Honestly I just don't see any of these guys that actually blow me away. Regardless of how I feel about the top prospects losing the pick this year would REALLY suck. It feels like if the Wolves could be relatively healthy and have a real offseason to get going they may not suck next year and losing the pick then wouldn't be so terrible.

Really sorry I missed this game after reading the comments!

Getting the first pick this year would be incredible, because in my opinion, the top 3 guys are going to be stars and are quite even in my opinion. I think Rosas would be in the position to really draft for need, and make his pick depending on other moves he made (or planned to make) in free agency. For instance, if he was able to get Collins, the pick would have to be Cunningham or Suggs. If he deals Rubio and begins to see DLO as more of a SG than a PG, I think his pick would be Suggs. And if he doesn't pick up a stud PF in free agency and sees Jaden as more of a SF than a PF, I would think he would take Mobley...two mobile 7-footers who can both put the ball on the floor and pass could be an interesting proposition. June 22 is going to be a critical date for this franchise.

The thing that also made this game so damn good was the contrasting styles. Gonzaga plays a game predicated on fast breaks and ball movement. UCLA slows it way down and then will look to find opportunities to isolate its two wings. Both teams executed their offensive styles with ruthless efficiency. It was just two really well-oiled teams trading blows.

By the way, Baylor is incredibly talented as well. Baylor vs. Gonzaga is the rightful NCAA Finals matchup.

On Suggs....I'm not convinced he'll be an NBA star. He absolutely has a poise and winner's disposition that makes him super attractive, so I'm not knocking his projected draft position. I'm just not sure he has the scorer's mentality and chops to be what most NBA pundits consider an all star. He seems more Rajon Rondo or Lonzo Ball than Damien Lillard.

I can see that. So much depends on the jump shot for him.

He's still a guy most NBA teams will probably love to have. He knows HOW to play. He battles. He can do multiple things well.

But does he have that ceiling teams covet with a top 3 or top 5 pick?

We all saw Haliburton drop to #11 largely for a lack of perceived ceiling. He's still overlooked by some for a lack of ceiling in a very efficient rookie campaign. Will the league course-correct with Suggs? I dunno. I'm assuming Suggs will also be near-elite with the measurements the NBA covets, so maybe there's room for him to break through?

[Note: You know my thoughts by now. Just bring in guys who can play... and know how to play. The Wolves already have two #1 picks. Very very few teams have that much "talent"... now it's time to put it into something real and tangible.]

Probably some homerism on my part, but I see Suggs as a unique talent. He's the kind of guy who will always find success in making his teammates better, but then can turn it on if his scoring is needed. I know I'm making the obvious Minnesota phenom PG comparison here, but he is similar to Tyus Jones in that regard...who can forget Tyus winning Duke the national championship when he realized Okafor didn't have it that night? But Suggs is so much bigger, stronger, and more athletic than Tyus, the comparisons stop at the neck. Poise and winner's disposition, yes Q...but it comes in a big athletic package. That's a combination that is difficult to match. If he goes to a team like the Wolves, I think he will carve out a role as a 12PPG/10APG facilitator for KAT, Ant and DLO. But if he goes to a team that needs him to score, I'm confident he can fill that role too.
