Before the season began, I think an argument could be made that Dieng or Bjelly are the better player, but so far Taj has justified his role as a starter and our most versatile big defensively.
(I'd still like to see Bjelly get more run....)
Still believe that they are easing belly back in from his injury and he will get more minutes as the season progresses if he continues his strong play
Even if they're easing him back in in terms of minutes it sure would be nice to see them get him a half dozen shots a game minimum!

SP, The problem is Bjelly is a pure catch-and-shoot jump shooter. He can't pull up on a dime off the dribble, like LaVine or Crawford for example. That somewhat limits his volume of attempts. He's also not used to running off a bunch of screens to get freed up, ala JJ Redick or Klay Thompson.
He would fit like a glove with Houston's philosophy though. 55% of his shots are 3's and 40% are 10 feet or less. So only 5% of his shots are in the dreaded mid-range to long 2 category!

Right now Belly's 3's are catch and shoot but he has the ball handling ability and absolutely had some off the dribble 3's while in Europe. Clearly it's taken him a while to find his comfort zone overall taking 3's. Remember when he was drafted he wasn't thought of as a shooter his intruiging was a 6'9" player with some PG skills. His long range shooting came later. I think at some point he could be a guy that can create some space with a couple dribbles to get off a shot. I think he could at some point be a guy that can also take and make 3's off a 2 man game where someone sets a screen for him while he has the ball. What he is doing now is fine bombing 3's from deep at the top of the key which also puts him in a good position to be back to help in transition if he misses. Regardless I absolutely agree with your Take he isn't good enough in those other areas to force feed him a bunch of looks. He leads the Wolves in 3pt rate and 2nd in 3pta per 36mins so he is getting up plenty of them when he is out there. Crawford getting up a ton of 3's is a very good development.
Has anyone checked out the site Cleaning the glass? I heard the guy behind it on the Sunc'd on podcast and he was pretty good. It's a subscribe site but there might be some interesting stuff.

I followed it when there was a free trial. He was on the lowe post also. I would say the stats are interesting but not worth the money.

What was the most interesting thing you found in terms of stats. I thought it was interesting the way he said he attempted to take out garbage time more effectively. I wasn't really sold on it but it was interesting.
