New trade thread! (couldn't find the old one)
Re: New trade thread! (couldn't find the old one)
A 3 and D guy has been brought up a couple times. Maybe we don't need to trade Martin to get a useful player in that regard. Maybe we could just save a team some money using a TPE or just dump Rudez and sign a guy that might help us. It would be weird to be Buyers at the trade deadline and right now I see that as the biggest need although a more experienced big might be one also. I'm interested to see how things play out. Sam has shown willingness to throw out some unique player combinations which is a good sign IMO.

What would people feel is the top 3 team needs?
I would say
1. Backup PG (this team really struggles without Rubio)
2. Bruising PF (It would be nice to have a longterm PF to grow next to KAT)
3. 3 & D SF - This is tough. I see one day LaVine and Wiggins being the starting wings and Shabazz the offense off the bench. We might be greedy looking for the 3 part of this equation.

Alternative ball-handler (4.65 APG over last four years), good wing defender, good three-point shooter (career 36.5 3P%, 43.8% this year), solid rebounder at the small forward position (6.25 RPG over last four years). Also, he's a guy that doesn't miss games and he's somehow still just 27-years old by the summer. He fills a huge hole for us.
That would allow us to play big, versatile and athletic with a Rubio-Wiggins-Batum-Bjelica-Towns starting lineup moving forward.
Batum seems to be having a bounce back year after his poor 2014-5 and would look very good in our starting lineup I think. But is a free agent after this year? If so, I would love to see us take a run at him.

1) Prince's successor at starting SF...a 3 &D SF. I like Cam's idea of Batum above if he is a free agent.
2) Bruising PF. KG is in the twilight of his career and the jury is out on Payne
3) Better looking cheerleaders...some of them are a little porky this year.
I think we are set at PG for a few years with Rubio/Zach/Tyus and even at SG for a couple years with Wig/Martin/Zach. I think Muhammad can also play a few minutes at SG.

1. Yes!
2. Yes!
3. I wouldn't say no to any of them.

Pek is still signed for a few more years so I would imagine Towns and Dieng would see time at the 4. Adding a third C to the rotation regardless of how many minutes Pek is going to play is going to push someone to PF more often which is yet to be determined if that's a good or bad thing and the PF solution may be answered at that time (still very possible if Pek is healthy moving forward now that he isn't in constant pain that he and Towns will start in the frontcourt).

Not sure about a trade, but here is my dream scenario. Pek retires (real possibility with his injuries), and they trade Martin for a 2nd round pick.
4yr - $60MM for Whiteside
4yr - $50MM for Batum
Whiteside - Dieng
Towns - Bjelica - Payne
Batum - Muhammad
Wiggins - Lavine
Rubio - Tyus - FA
Done. Ha...love it!

Whiteside is getting way more money than that.

Whiteside taking a discount is not the most preposterous part of this though...that would be Pek retiring and walking away from $27 million of free money!
Re: New trade thread! (couldn't find the old one)
Whiteside is getting the max. He is a younger Deandre Jordan he is gonna get paid.
Of the 3 needs that Bleed laid out well the only one that has basically zero chance of being filled in the current roster is a younger 3 and D guy. Can set his sights high as usual and went the route of a guy in FA. There are a number of ways to find a 3 and D guy and I don't know that that player needs to be a starter level type just a rotation guy. For this season of the Wolves decide to gear up for a playoff run they even could use Rudez's roster spot (I still like Rudez but..) to add a guy one way or another either by signing some guy that is out there (Someone mentioned Dorrel Wright in another thread) using a TPE to absorb a guy or something of that nature. At this point I wouldn't mind just adding a wing that is younger and can just defend even if he wasn't exactly a good 3 point shooter.
