Right, I think he made a mistake by typing in "SG". What I described is what I think he was trying to convey, but I'm sure he can clarify.

LST is one of this board's most frequent and thoughtful contributors. Calling him a liar is out of line. He deserves the benefit of the doubt here.

I hope he's not as thin skinned and you seems to be. Also he's post doesn't seem to make sense if he meant to type PG instead of SG
[quote=But I also acknowledge a lot of improvement in Zach this year. We all know he ranked at the bottom of most statistical categories last year, even though he was playing a lot of his minutes at SG. Playing almost exclusively PG this year, his numbers are improved over last year...and dramatically in some instances. I think his numbers compare favorably to many other backup PGs.]

Q's point is the reason so many of us came to this forum vs. the many others out there when ESPN shut their forums down was because the conversation was largely respectful, and other than me, knowledgeable. You're certainly welcome here, but try to keep the conversation civil, even when your emotions are running a little hot.

I'm still failing to see the major significance of this issue. The bottom line is Zach isn't good enough yet to be a starter, and Tyus isn't good enough to man the second unit. So you got to fit him somewhere.

To me Zach is getting precisely the amount of minutes he should be getting based on his performance to date and where his play fits relative to the other players around him. His performance has been very mediocre to date with outbursts of positive contributions. I'm fine with him being a primary ball handler and continue to become a playmaker. Already I feel in a few games he has been making better decisions with the ball, that is development. I don't see how he would develop any quicker getting burned by starting 2s. I see him being more Westbrook light/Jamal Crawford in his ceiling than a pure 2 anyway. Let him become a combo guard.

I have watched nearly every game thus far and have not loved Zach at the PG position. However, I agree with Sam that he has the tools to succeed. I believe he AND Flip might have recognized that Ricky is often injured and that Zach would be a better fit as his backup than Miller or Tyus. That is why this year is for development and Zach has gotten more minutes late in games than he probably deserves.

I am sure some of you have coached before and been through some ups and downs that come with the decisions we make. Keep in mind, no one has thought about and discussed, analyzed, criticized, coached, taught, or agonized about Zach as a PG than Sam Mitchell. It may not make sense to us right now, but Sam and his staff have a plan. It is becoming clear to me that the future of this team is Ricky at PG, Wiggins at SG, unknown at SF (if not Wiggins), Bjelica at the PF and Towns at the C. Zach will never get a shot if he starts with that group, and hence never blossom. He needs to play PG and Billups and Westbrook are examples of guys who became stars after learning the position. I dont know if Zach will become a star. But he wont as a SG on this team...there is no room for him to do so. We need a Sefalosha, Tony Allen type player in the lineup who can defend and play his role. Unfortunately, Martin, Shabazz and Lavine are all currently competing for shots off the bench, but that has its pros too. Give this more time, PLEASE!

Congratulations for ruining the career of an uber talented prospect before it even has a chance to get started. How terribly unfair to Zach to have a dumbass, that's right, dumbass coach pigeon hole you in to the wrong position. He should be arrested for this crime. And that's just what it is, criminal.

Whoa, that might be a little over-the-top. Ruining Zach's career? Dumbass? Criminal?

Yeah, I'm just a little bit angry over this dumb statement by Sam.

I think I may owe some people an apology. Sometimes I don't validate when people are obviously venting while also sharing their thoughts and observations. Sometimes I try too much to help them calm down or whatever. My bad this is a place that should be safe to vent.

Agreed. I like that this board self polices and guys will jump in to let someone know if they are getting out of line (like this). Instead of "liar" write something like "that's not what I'm seeing" and provide data/links to support your view. This board has been pretty good - let's keep it that way. It's the different views and opinions that makes the board interesting.

I've been thinking about this very important issue for awhile now. And I have come up with a solution.

Brooklyn_Wolves guy has to die. There's no other way.
