I went with Wig in a close vote, and the way he beat Butler on both ends of the court last night made me feel better about my vote. I will agree with the Giannis voters that he will always have a physical advantage over Wig even though Wig is clearly physically gifted too...I mean, he was nicknamed the Greek Freak even before he grew another 2-3 inches to get to 7 feet.
One area I disagree with Q and Lip on, though, is in comparing their handle. I see GA as being a better facilitator than Wig, and I agree that ball handling is not Wig's strength. But sometimes when I watch GA, he is totally out of control with the basketball and takes chances that are not wise. He only turns the ball over .5 times per game more than Wig, but I think that will be higher as the season goes on. I have seen several instances where he has been stripped of the ball on an ill-advised drive, and a teammate has bailed him out by securing the ball...that's just good fortune. Both guys need to improve their handle, and I think they will, but I think Wig is more careful with the ball than GA.

We talk about promise. And potential. The best way to judge that is in year-by-year progress. Giannis took a huge leap from Year 1 to Year 2. And (small sample size alert) he seems to have made another huge leap this season. That's all you can ask from these young, athletic, promising talents. Yes. Giannis has another year in the league. And THAT's why I'm choosing him.
He's proven he can improve from one season to the next.
Nothing against Wiggins... but he hasn't yet. It's the NBA. I want to keep my job. I'm going with the proverbial bird in the hand at this point.
I have a bust thread with my name on it from whiffing on Russell. I have to go with GA because of what you said. I am very happy with Wiggins though and it is very very close. I think GA is a very unique talent annd love how much his body has developed. He was very very skinny kid and you look at him now and he really has added a lot of strength in a short period of time.

Even though I voted not to trade Wiggins, you guys realize that tonight was just one night, right? We downplayed Giannis' start to the season because it was a small sample size. Well, are we supposed to have a conclusion to this debate after one regular season game in November of 2015? No way.
Wiggins was great tonight and it was exactly what we needed. Giannis could have a monster triple double in his next game and it shouldn't change anything about this thread.

Small sample Size? Wiggins was the rookie of the year, and played like this the 2nd half of last season. Were you hibernating?
