Hear Flip arranged the Malone-Taylor meeting weeks ago. Still would love to see Mike as Flip's top ass't next year. Defensive wiz. #twolves

Nothing official. But feel the same now as I did months ago: I see him coaching still. #twolves
If the Wolves would be able to get Malone as the top assistant that would be fantastic because of his likely effect on team defense and that's more what we need than anything else besides talent. adding Malone I think would put Flip staying as coach in a more positive light at least in the short term (the next year or two).

I think at minimum he has to hire a top defensive assistant. If they go that route I could see Malone maybe taking over the following year as head coach even. Or for all we know they could be interested in hiring him to replace Flip next year.

You bring up some interesting point that I was thinking also. I would think Malone would have shots at head coaching jobs this offseason although maybe there is not the glut of jobs that there were last summer but after the way things ended in sac he might be wanting to be an assistant and hone himself for the next gig. Yeah who knows maybe the next gig is the Wolves. He is a younger guy and is out of the country club and seems to be very highly regarded and it's not like he did a bad job with the Kings. I'd give him a shot over anyone currently on the staff that's for sure and I like some of if not all of those guys as assistants just not HC.

Interesting supposedly Flip offered a top assistant coach position to Billups last year with the understanding he takes over next year but turned it down.

Good find, monster. So we now know that Flip offered the job to Joerger and Billups, and there are also reports that the Wolves actively pursued Donovan. Since reports like this are coming out of the woodwork, it's logical to assume there were other candidates that the Wolves also went after. Can we finally put to bed the narrative that Flip wanted the head coach job from the start, and didn't put much effort into finding an alternative? It's clear to me that the Kevin Love uncertainty made it impossible for Flip to get the right guy to commit...only washed-up candidates like George Karl were interested.
On the positive side, the Wolves have to be a much better coaching job now than they were prior to the Love/Wiggins deal. More reason to believe that we may have a new coach next year.

JVG was offered the job also before Flip took it. This report makes me think Flip is interested in having someone else coach after he took over that responsibility. I think it will both be hard for him to give up and yet refreshing because the grind of coaching and all those losses had to wear on Flip big time. Hell it's worn on us. Lol

Presti is all in on Donovan. Should be interesting to see what happens. I have a hard time seeing a better NBA landing spot if Billy wants to win right away than going to OKC.

Does your 2 posts on this forum count? :) I do think you make a fair point. She is a coach and is working for the Spurs. It could be a matter of time. I am not a bigtime WNBA fan but she was one player I always liked.
