What was Flip's leverage to get a deal done when all summer long Bennett was likely the odd man out? He got Wiggins for Love because he made it clear he had no problem keeping Love and trying to win with a borderline playoff team in his system. When Flip signed Bjelica that appeared to be the end of either Payne or Bennett and Flip wasn't dumping a guy he just traded a future first round pick for. Flip had no leverage to get anything for Bennett because of the other moves he made which is on him. Also, KG and Pek are going to miss a decent chunk to a lot of games so that leaves Towns/Dieng playing the 5 and Bjelica/Payne playing the 4. This isn't a huge loss, but it's also a move a developing team shouldn't be making when they don't know if any of Payne/Bjelica/Dieng/Towns can be productive 4's. How in the world is Rudez or Brown or Jeff Adrien a better use of the roster spot? They can't hold a candle to Bennett's talent.
I beg your pardon but Jeff Adrien was much more impactful than Bennett. He brought toughness to a front court full of wusses. I consider that a talent.
And you don't consider any of Payne/Bjelica/Dieng/Towns could be productive 4's but you know that Bennett can produce? Come on.

Welcome to the board, Brooklyn_Wolves. I can already tell just by your view on Bennett that you'll be a great addition to this forum.

I can't believe we traded away Anthony Randolph when he was just 22. All that enormous potential what were the Wolves thinking?
Side notes:
This post brought to you by sarcasm
Anthony Randolph is only 26
We traded away Derrick Williams when he was 22 as well.
The list of young guys (23 or younger) we traded or let got the last few years with theoretical talent is pretty long and the guy that was the most useful is probably Kosta Koufus.

Sounds like a done deal. Woj retweeted this.
@ShamsCharania: Minnesota forward Anthony Bennett has reached agreement on a contract buyout, soon to free him on waivers, league sources tell Yahoo.

All of this makes me wonder why we had the Cavs include Bennett in the deal that brought him here. Was our front office's evaluation of Bennett that off?
Because Cavs needed to include Bennett to make trade salaries work. Without AB's contract Cavs wouldn't be able to absorb Love's contract. It wasn't really about his talents. Get it now?
Lets not act like Flip didn't hype Bennett up big time after that trade

Standard procedure/classic PBO behavior. The answer to any of these questions and riddles lies in another question. Would the exclusion of Bennett's talent been a deal breaker?

Oh, c'mon Cam, let's not use one's opinion of AB as an acid-test for their board cred.
Welcome aboard Brooklyn!

I don't recall him hyping him. If anything, I thought he was a bit understated given his stature as the prior year's #1 pick. I thought it was clear all along that Flip wasn't totally invested in AB. He gave him a shot though and it just didn't work out here.

I always thought Flip was pretty consistent in his assessment of Bennett all the way down to what he said about him this summer.
"You look at him and he was drafted, had shoulder surgery, did not practice at all during the summertime, missed training camp, came in during the year and was diagnosed with sleep apnea and other things," Saunders said. "He has lost 25 pounds, he's working hard to get in shape. He's an NBA player. He's a guy that's going to be a rotation-type player."

At the end of all that praise he said Bennett was an NBA player a rotation player which isn't exactly huge hype. I never heard Flip refer to him as a star or whatever.
