What is with you the wolves won, Payne contributed, they rebounded a lot better when he was on the court. Favors did not go off. No one played bad, and you always go to the negative to the players you do not like

1. Favors was unstoppable all night. Part of that is Favors being a good player on his own right. Part of that is Payne getting manhandled.
2. God I hope they'd rebound better with him on the court. His competition for PF minutes has been Chase Budinger. Sad thing is Chase has been outplaying him at a big man position. Yikes.
3. I point out the negative at tines like this because the rest of the board has covered the positives in depth. Most of it's been touched on already. LaVine, Wiggins, Kilpatrick, Brown, Budinger, Dieng all played well.

LOL at the Payne comments. He only played 22 minutes, about half of what Favors played, and yet he's the reason Favors went off for an historic 19 and 12! I can only conclude that all-NBA defender Bud must have shut Favors out in the 20 minutes he was guarding him...can't make it up! I prefer to focus on Adreain's impressive rebounding rate tonight...9 in only 22 minutes, 4 on the offensive glass.
Now if I can change gears and channel Q for a moment, I wonder how we won this game. We were out rebounded and out assisted, we had more fouls and turnovers, and they had more steals and blocks. A team of seven guys on the 2nd day of a BTB wins in overtime while getting beat in almost every box score category...how does that happen????
To get the answer, you need only look at 3-point shooting...we made 12, they made 9, one of the few times all year we have made more threes than our opponent. Do you think Flip noticed?

Honestly why are Hummel and Hamliton on the team at this point? We need bodies and they are both FA's after this season. We could cut them and bring them back. Odd roster management.

The idea this team is tanking is ridiculous. They have actual injuries and they suck and somehow they pulled off what sounds like a terrific win. I am gonna have to go back and watch this game and then not watch anymore games this year and savor the high note. Lol

This kind of went under the radar, but I believe this is the first game with LaVine and Wiggins as the starting wings... Give me some more, please!

While that statement is true, it's only because we were unusually accurate from 3. I've always said that effectively utilizing the 3-point shot is just as much about volume as it is accuracy. Utah's offense generated far more open 3's than we did (especially from the corners, the best spot on the floor to shoot from behind the arc), but we just had an outlier performance in terms of accuracy.
So while it's nice to see our young guys actually make some 3's for once, we still didn't
take enough of them.

Well have a lot of open 3s when we get Okafor passing out of the low post ;) I think our main problem is still a spacing issue preventing good open 3s. I am starting to get angry at Pek (and to a lesser extant Dieng) all over again. I really expected those two would give us a bump this year, instead they have set us back.

Really Cam? You need to lighten up on this. Favors was nothing special last night. Your butt-hurt over exchanging Thad for Payne is waaaayyyyy to transparent.

Doper, you don't need a dominant low post scorer like Pek (when healthy) or Okafor to create 3-point chances. That's an old-fashioned way to look at 3-point shooting and it wouldn't surprise me if Flip would say something like this.
Flip needs to stop looking at the 3-point shot as only an opportunistic option that comes out of a traditional offensive set, as if the 3-point shot is still a novelty in the NBA. Instead, he should be seeking out ways to generate a 3-point shot as a primary option.
A perfect example is one of Flip's favorite playcalls, which is the high pick and pop between the point guard and whoever is playing the power forward. That play is designed to get the ball back to the PF for an open jumper. But our PFs, dating back to AB and Young in the first half of the season, almost NEVER pop out beyond the arc. They pop out to ~ 18-20 feet. If Flip is OK with these guys taking 20-footers, than he should definitely be OK with taking a shot worth 50% more points that is only a couple feet further away. In fact, he should be furious that they aren't popping out beyond the arc. But alas, a dinosaur roams the sidelines. Now we see the same thing from Payne....inefficient 2-point jumpers that defenses will happily yield.
