Another point that I like is Town's outgoing personality. Towns is an extrovert while Okafor is an introvert. Nothing wrong with introverts, but since the team has many introverts including Wiggins, Rubio and Shabazz it would be nice to add someone who is more vocal and can be a leader with words not just in actions. Towns and Wiggins seem to get along well.

Very different players. Towns is a very efficient scorer who is a terrific free throw shooter. Josh Smith is just the opposite. As far as 3s go, Flip will probably discourage it at the outset so his focus is in the paint. But that could change down the road. Towns actually shot a lot of 3s in high school and we all have seen him beat Wiggins in the 3pt contest where he shows a quick release.

Its my mistake. I thought the thread was turning into one where we throw out random comparisons and hope one sticks.

My concern is Towns to me seems like a support player and I just can't picture see him as a dominating player that takes over games. He didn't show it enough at the college level.

Wow. So he averaged more than 16 ppg at least once or twice in his competitive basketball career.

[Note: Something Wes Johnson has never done... at any level.]

Because of his role. His team. And his age. I'm not too worried.

I saw him do it twice by the way. In a comeback win vs. Georgia. And he did it in the Great Eight vs. Notre Dame, right?

I think his team is overrated. I am just concerned he is much closer to WCS then he is to AD. I didn't see the Georgia game, but felt like Notre Dame didn't bother to double team him even though there were very undersized. I look at the LSU and Wisconsin games as teams that he played with better post talent. He was solid against both, but was not a star in either. I think we will see more of a supportive player sold pro then All-NBA.

Then again maybe he has a little LaMarcus Aldridge to him.

He was on a pretty good team his freshman year. 2 solid NBA players as teamates.

It's all a crapshoot. And Towns is deemed fairly raw among the top prospects.

But I think it's important to note that he became more of a force as the season progressed and became more of a focal point for Kentucky at times when they needed somebody to step up. Can't get too much bigger than the game to get them to the Final Four.

Considering he was a freshman who stood out in a timeshare situation, I think that's a good sign.

"Whereas Towns is not as ready-made as (Jahlil) Okafor may be offensively, but he's got tantalizing shot blocking potential. He's developing into a low-post scorer. And something that was not seen this year, that many of us have watched him since he was about 16 know that he can do, is that he can step away from the basket and shoot threes." - ESPN college basketball analyst Fran Fraschilla on the potential of Karl-Anthony Towns.

For those that think I've embellished on Towns' shooting ability... I guess Fran and I are blind.
