This is where I stand as well. If someone told me I had a Ferrari for one more year or I could sell it for $1,000, I'd just enjoy the last year with my 'rari and maybe I'd be able to keep it after that year. No reason to settle.
Hmmm, let's go with that one. You have a lot of fun with the Ferrari for a year (even though the Ferrari doesn't want to be in your garage :( ), and someone is offering you an Audi S-4 now in exchange for you giving up the Ferrari. I let the unhappy Ferrari go and take the lesser car.
Except we're not being offered an Audi S-4. We're being offered a 2002 Toyota Corolla, which is shitty.

Poo washes off. The key is what kind of loan you end up having to take out. Short or long? overpaying or underpaying?
Nah man, that stuff gets into the seats. No hot girl is going to let you take her to make out point in that car if she knows it was covered in dog poop
Wait, you never said it was inside the car O.o

Boston wants him and they have a ton of picks, in the worst case scenario if the Wolves cannot get a quality player or two then they fall back on the best assortment of picks available, that or thumb their collective noses at Love and make him spend the season in Minnesota with the promise of no sign and trade next offseason.

Lip, how are Waiters and Bennett on relatively cheap deals when they'll make $5M next year? Really?

Have you never seen the Seinfeld episode with the smelly car? At least with having the Ferrari an extra year, I might get to touch the hot girls boobs (making the playoffs) despite the fact I have a gut and bad acne(Timberwolves franchise), I know I'll never marry that hot girl(win a title) with that Ferrari for a year, but at least I have a chance to get to second base

I know we're just having some fun with these analogies, but I think your last comment gets us back to the main difference on this board....what is Love's perceived value in the league, and what can we reasonably expect to get back. I would say that if Love is a Ferrari, the discussed Boston deal is at least an S-4. Love for Lee and a pick would be a 2002 Toyota Corolla.
I think the reason so many people turn their nose up at the Boston deal is because it is much worse than a Cleveland Wiggins deal, and I agree that it is. But I think most of us think the Wiggins deal is dead. How good would the Boston deal look if you knew for certain that the Wiggins deal was dead?

Lee and a pick is a rusted out station wagon in the backyard of some hillbilly hoarder that has no tires and a raccoon living inside it

Okay here's the thing. You can't judge Love's value based on what he is traded for in this situation. Teams never give anywhere near dollar for dollar in this situation. If the Wolves were to only get 2 first round picks from a team that does NOT translate into Love's value being 2 first rounders. That's just a team taking huge advantage of the situation. Outside this type of situation a superstar's value is typically another superstar.
Otherwise Lebron's value was 2 first round picks b/c that's what CLE got from MIA. That just doesn't make sense.

We may disagree on this issue, alex, but I gotta admit your takes are creative today!

Cleveland signing James Jones, Mike Miller, and pursuing Ray Allen now. That's a lot of 2-guards. Maybe the Cavs were just shoring up that position before they offered Wiggins?
