I agree with the sentiment. But Spellman apparently did not. I suppose the Wolves could have said "play or sit a year", but that wouldn't help anyone...

Yep, Spellman is an odd guy. His weight has ballooned over 300 lbs at times over the past year, and while talented, he had nothing but a bad attitude since the trade. The photo of him at the introductory press conference speaks volumes:

The guy just didn't want to play here, and I say good riddance. I'm much happier having a stellar teammate and leader like Davis plus J-Mac than a sourpuss like Spellman and an irrelevant Evans. Good transaction!

It was likely either this or waive one of Naz Reid, Jarred Vanderbilt, or Jaylen Nowell before their salary became guaranteed for next year. Those were the likely options.

This way the Wolves keep their young talent -- to include Jordan McLaughlin -- and pick up a veteran big that should be serviceable for 10-15 minutes per game when needed.

So? That's an even better reason to keep him here. Wiseman didn't want to play here either and that didn't stop a majority of the board from wanting to draft him.

You can fine him. That doesn't mean he has to show up to work and still doesn't create cap space or roster spots

Actually, none of them look too thrilled....

Looks like Ed Davis and I have made the same amount of 3 pointers in the NBA. Maybe he can be our Dennis Rodman I've been wanting.

I wonder if the future 2nd round pick is the philly one They got on the Butler deal or maybe even highly protected one.

Unless Ed Davis really did drop off a cliff after going to Utah he has been a positive player for a number of years. He played a total of like 301 minutes with Utah So that's not a big sample size. He has had a positive value defensively which is a big need for this team. So now the Wolves have old man Ed Davis who turned 31 in June and Ricky Rubio who recently turned 30. If Naz Reid and/or Vanderbilt aren't ready Ed Davis should be able to give them some legit minutes. I've heard in the past he is a very good dude so that doesn't hurt. It's not just on Rubio now and Russell is probably gonna tell people they should listen to what he has to say. Let's get McLaughlin resigned and another 2-way player signed and let's go...wherever that takes us. Lol

Would love to get him on a 3 or 4 year deal, let him play 3rd string to learn, step up for injuries, play backup on resting days. Then decide if we hold Rubio through his contract or trade him after the year/deadline.
