I have no doubt this trade makes OKC better. How much better is an open question. I thought OKC would be a top 5 team before getting Melo. This deal firms that up and probably puts OKC in the top 3 along with GS and Houston. Barring major injuries, I see the Wolves battling the Spurs for the 4th slot. I don't know how the Spurs won 60 games last season, but I don't see them doing it again this season unless Rudy Gay surprises all of us.

You know one of the Spurs players that nobody expects will be a worthwhile rotation player and be part of the reason why they win in the high 50's again. I'm skeptical about what Gay can give them but if he is actually healthy and ready to roll I can see him being a guy that could help espcially playing with Leonard. George Karl said he thinks Gay would be a good smallball PF.
