You guys ever notice how much Aaron Brooks looks like Billy Ocean?

EDIT: Shout out to Stacey King, who once pointed that out while announcing a Bulls game then broke into falsetto and sang, "Get out of MY dreams, get into my ca-ar." I love that guy. He's the anti-Jim Pete, and I love Jim Pete, but where Pete is all analysis, King is all wordplay and just a funny guy.

Count me as one poster who doesn't like the Aaron Brooks signing. Brooks does one thing fairly well, score. There are two things that he has always been subpar at...defense and distributing.
Now, if Thibs signed Brooks just to fill out the roster and to truly be a 3rd PG, only seeing the court if there are injuries, I wouldn't be unhappy. I want to see Tyus Jones get serious backup minutes this year, and I would be upset if a journeyman like Brooks took minutes away from him. But two things make me worry that Thibs may be looking at Brooks as more than just insurance. One, he gave significant backup minutes to Brooks just a couple years ago in Chicago. And two...Jon K, who most of us think is usually quite accurate in his assessments, tweeted yesterday that he believes Brooks is coming here to play, not sit. Man, I hope Thibs shows a lot more faith in Jones this year than he did last, but the Brooks signing makes me think he won't.

Good stuff. I agree King can be pretty amusing.

Always the Thibs' pessimist... ;-)
While I would expect an open competition for the backup PG spot, I really think Thibs believes Tyus is going to win that spot. Considering Dunn was a high draft pick last year, I think you should be impressed with the minutes Tyus DID earn from Thibs last year!

Jon also tweeted Tyus seems to rise to challenges as well. I still don't buy that Brooks will play over Tyus. I think it was a good depth signing. Let's see how it plays out.

Honestly believe that if Tyus was from Texas and wasn't "one of us" we would not care about him at all. Yes did he play decent in spots last year, yes. But when he got extended minutes near the end of last year, he started to struggle. The good thing is he dosen't turn over the ball but he is nothing more than a game manager in my opinion and if brooks beats him out for the backup pg that says more about tyus than Thibs.
Look at last year Thibs cares more about Ws than status (now you might disagree how he goes about getting them). He did not play vets in Rush, hill, Aldrich and Dunn in relation to the #5 pick he still played the guy he didn't like in ricky more because gave him a better shot to win.
So if brooks wins the job he wins the job. Where we are I am done caring about having to play young guys to speed up there development. The young guys need to find a role or watch from the bench because Ws are the only thing that should matter now going forward
