He was also huge in Miami when they won. So, while I think I get what the idea is, using Shaq as an example isn't necessarily accurate from my view. Shaq was a winner.
I was more talking about their personna and I did say Shaq was "great". I was not a Shaq fan much of his career but I think a lot of people seem to have forgotten just how dominate he was at the time and I end up defending that. He was a heck of a player.
This is one of the saddest things I have seen in a long time in professional sports. Harden hits the game winner, the crowd goes nuts, but the Rockets' bench (with the exception of one guy) looks dejected. "Come on, James...you're going to make us play another game? We have plans, man!". We expect this kind of disinterest from a jerk like Howard, but check out Brewer and Sam Dekker...just terrible.
I think it tells you as much of what they think of James Harden as it does anything else. That team has two crappy leaders in Howard and Harden.
I think the most amazing part of that video is Brewer doing a slow clap. Is that Corey Brewer after being hit with a tranquilizer dart meant for a Rhino? That guy is always fired up. Morey really miscalculated bringing in Lawson. I think that passed the boiling point of good players (Lawson ended up being terrible) that um...I don't know exactly how to characterize it but yeah. Houston needs to get a good coach let Howard go and roll with a younger roster and maybe bring in a couple solid vet guys. It was just a few months ago Harden was playing defense and all was great. Is Harden a leader? No but I think he can still be a heck of a 2-way player. If Morey sticks around he needs to get back to being smart and not swinging for the fences on talent.
I don't think you can win the big one with Harden as "the guy". Heck of a talent. One of the best players in the league. Just doesn't have that focus and leadership the greats have. Michael and Kobe were great talents, but their mentalitity is the reason they won so much. I don't see Harden and Howard having anywhere near that mentalitity.
Yeah agreed. I think that both guys are more like Shaq. Very good players (Shaq was great) but not the guy that leads to the win. I said the same thing about Cousins when he came into the league as well. That doesn't mean you don't want these players it's just you can't expect them to be "the guy".
It's scary what Shaq could of been had he had that killer mindset and kept his body in shape. He destroyed the league without it, but you look at Orlando Shaq and you see a giant that can run the floor like a SF. Crazy athletic and strong. Didn't stay in shape though.
I just started watching the 2nd half of the Spurs Memphis game. I have no clue how this game is even this close. Joerger is making due with Zach Randolph a couple role players and cast offs against the 2nd best team in the league.
It was me who selected other. I think OKC wins it all. Mostly just a feeling but i think Westbrook is a beast and if Durant pulls his head out and they feed Kanter. Also Donovan is coaching and usually new coaches win championships. And also think Kanter is underrated. Could see Toronto sneak up and steal the east from cleveland also. Hence why i chose other. Also to piss Cam off.

That is a great video. Love seeing Dwight Coward eventually lose another playoff series. He's the Terrell Owens of the NBA. And WTF Brewer?? Mr. Excitement.
OKC really seems like a sleeping Giant. They seem to be coming into shape at the right time. I wouldn't be surprised to see them in the finals against the Cavs.

They can beat anybody at anytime. If they focus, they are as tough as anyone. I'm pulling for them.

Did anyone else notice the guy in the crowd? Starts with a clenched fist to celebrate but turns it around to give them the bird. Stay classy Houston!
