You mentioned a while back bringing in a guy like Ronnie Price. We need a solid vet backup/3rd guard type when Tyus can't get it done. There are usually a few of those guys available every year and are pretty cheap. Like I said before I am with you on Price I've always liked him.
I also like the idea of bringing Ronnie Price. He is not much an offensive player but he is really good on ball defender as we saw in Phoenix game. He would be probably quite cheap and we could give him maybe just one year contract with an option for another year. Hopefully Tyus would be ready for primary backup role already after one year but even after that Price could be used in the end of game for defensive purposes etc.

Yes, I'm sure they will take very seriously a petition signed by Carlos Danger, Q12543, Mstermisty, and AbeVigodaLive. :)
Gaawd! Glen is so freakin' backward as a modern day sports owner!
He was pretty backward as a 90s sports owner too. He basically lucked out with Garnett then complained publically as soon as it went sour when he was spending luxury tax money. The fact of the matter is that in spite of all his ineptitude, he is still in line for a windfall when he sells. I can't see why he is dragging his heals, unless he believes that a couple of years in the playoffs will net him a few hundred million more.
Yes, I love those "Settlers" commercials....there should be a version of that to mock Glen Taylor with how often he settles for things.
To be fair Taylor took over the saddest franchise in sports and they were in the playoffs what like 2-3 years later? Glen might not be a genius but let's give him some credit for what he was able to do early on.
1) Most expansion teams struggle their first few years.
2) Kevin Garnett also arrived on the scene in 1995.
3) Only two playoff series wins over 12 seasons with a top 5 guy in the league is actually almost comically inept.
4) The Timberwolves claim as the 2nd worst (and gaining) franchise in modern NBA history actually has more to do with the team's lack of success after Taylor took over than before it. (See points 1, 2 and 3)

Wouldn't it be sorta nice to be mediocre again? It feels like Glen doesn't get ANY credit for taking something that was terrible and hired guys that pretty much immediately made the team worth watching. It's kinda amusing that Flip is generally regarded so well now and people including yours truly were skeptical at best at Glen for letting Flip talk him into the job. Now it looks genius. Is Glen a great owner overall? No and he has plenty of blunders to deserve the poor option many fans have of him. it does seem like people lose a bit of reality when they say the guy is completely worthless seems a bit unfair to me that's all even though I know where people are coming from.

When your franchise hasn't been above .500 in 12 years, I think it's fair to say that as an owner, you suck ass. Hell, in those same 12 years, we've only cracked .400 twice. Taylor absolutely deserves the harsh criticism he gets by the fans.

Absolutely I was talking about him back in the 90's but I don't know why I even said anything. Oh well

I get what you're saying. You think he deserves credit for making the Wolves a contender even though it was for a brief moment in time, and he should get credit for that, but in some ways he was the reason for their downfall too and then the decade-plus of sucking-ass just kills any good memory you have of Taylor as owner. Or, it does for me anyways.

Thanks you pretty much summed that up very well.

Every owner of a pro team is going to have ups and downs over 22+ years. But the Wolves have more than their fair share of down years and even the best years were muted because of what Taylor did or didn't do.
The Joe Smith debacle can't be ignored during that 1990s run. That's one of the greatest "clerical" errors I can recall. It was a huge reason why a team with a perennial top 5 talent couldn't make it out of the 1st round of the playoffs... or even make the playoffs.
But I think everybody would agree that the team (sans one season) never reached its potential. Since Taylor's decisions and actions directly led to that... I think he's more than deserving of the criticism. He seems like a decent enough guy and isn't an obnoxious owner, so things could be a lot worse. But that's sorta the problem. The Wolves have been milquetoast, even during the "glory" years.

The truth is - Taylor really isn't a decent guy. He's every bit Mr. Burns as an employer and his personal life has been far less than ideal . . .

Taylor's most obvious blunder was the Joe Smith deal. It was an embarrassment to the Franchise. And those lost draft picks certainly contributed to the end of our playoff runs along with poor decisions on coaching, GM and drafting. If I'm grading him it would have to be a "D". Hindsight is always 20/20...but, I think looking back at what we had in KG, it would have been nice to surround him with a better supporting cast. Look at what happened once we finally got Cassell and Spree. Hopefully he learns from that mistake and will get some guys to help Towns/Wiggins/LaVine.
