I don't know if its cheap or oddly not all that proactive in bringing in young cheap talent either one is bad both in letting go of 2nd rounders and not bringing in fringe young guys at times like now. Its a little bizzare. They brought in some guys last year but none of them came back (They ended up with no roster spots since they went with old mentors and Rudez) and the guy they dumped GR3 got a multiyear deal with the Pacers and actually has played some games on a team that has 15 more wins than we do. I am not really crying that much about losing GR3 more bringing up how it doesn't seem we fared to well on those moves of fringe NBA talents. You would think there would be some d-league player some scout would be banging on the table for them to pick up.

It's interesting. But it might be a bit of sensationalism too. There are four other guys on the floor when Beasely is out there. Is it possible he's carrying the load, but the other guys are not doing their part? IDK.

Bease was never considered much of a defender. So maybe it is what it is. But sometimes I look at our our own Beasley (Bazz) and wonder if his +/- and other advanced metrics would look better if he was playing with guys better than Tyus Jones, Greg Smith and Adrian Payne.

I totally agree with what you are saying. I found the tweet interesting because Britt was saying the same thing a couple days ago especially questioning where the magic numbers were from the Rockets suggesting they should sign and play him.

Well, there is truth in those numbers. I always like to look across multiple years with +/- because of the inherent noise in the stat with small samples. Here are Beasley's career numbers:

Net On/Off rating: -3.0

So over his career, Beasley's team does 3 pts per 100 possessions better with him sitting down than on the court. Keep in mind that he has been a starter and a bench player in about equal amounts.

In nearly three seasons, Shabazz is at -5.0.

At some point, this stat speaks the truth. I don't know what the magic sample size is, but I would think after 3+ years of data, one can draw some pretty reasonable conclusions from it.

This is a common argument with the On/Off stat, but then it becomes circular logic. If Shabazz were hypothetically really good, wouldn't these other bench guys in turn be doing better than they are, i.e. benefiting from playing with Shabazz? But their numbers look crappy too, so who is making who look bad? Or may be they are all pretty bad!

What I will say in a not really strong attempt to put Bazz in a bit less negative light is he has played a few games for a 40 win team and then for 2 of the worst teams in the league so there is a bit of an excuse There I suppose Obviously playing with poor overall talent. Beas has played minutes for playoff level teams and terrible teams with what you are saying is consistently poor results. There doesn't seem to be any excuse for him. I wonder what these numbers looked like for Ricky Davis...
