Yeah, the contrast between him and Mo was pretty stark tonight. And Mo isn't even very good. All we can hope is that all these reps at PG for LaVine does two things: 1) Help Flip realize that Zach is not a point guard, and 2) Help Zach eventually become a more well-rounded shooting guard. SG's have to know how to make pocket passes too, after all.
I didn't watch the first half. I watched the second half and was pleased with the energy and sense of urgency. The key now is to get that wheel in motion to start games. There was a small stretch of play where the tempo increased a little and the team started launching more 3s. I got a jolt of energy when Zach got the ball and raced down the court, missed a shot and Wiggins put it back with a dunk. This team can play like that and should.
In the limited minutes I saw, Thad looked more like they guy many of us were excited about. He was much more active on D, albeit over matched still. Hopefully he turns a corner from that standpoint of assertiveness.
I really like what I see from Wiggins game to game. He is showing ability to score in many ways and do it under control against a variety of defenders. Through all of this salty garbage that we have seen on the court this season, I feel so relieved about Wiggins. He is going to be very good, at a minimum.

1) Yes we should play fast, and we rarely do.
2) You are absolutely kidding me with your Thad comments tonight, right?
3) Wiggins is going to be great, not good. But you can see his biggest weakness is strength. He touches so many balls that he doesn't control. He just needs to get in the weight room. But I tell you what, his handle is al lot better than some of you think. He's just too deferential to his teammates.

Think you're moving closer to being on the Wiggins>Jabari bandwagon yet?
I've never wanted to be wrong about something this much. And with these last 10 or so games, I'm very hopeful that I am. He's scoring 20+ with 44+% shooting from the field. He's shown signs of a good three ball (went 3-5 tonight). I'm also looking for the passing ability to show once his scoring is regularly good/great. Wiggins can be a star. I want him to be that very much so.

2) No, actually. Thad had a little fire tonight that has been missing. Obviously he has played a very uninspired stretch of basketball in the last month but when the team finally showed some heart, he followed suit, IMO. I absolutely hope he can bring some more consistency of being assertive.

If he just had even intermediate handles, he could practically be averaging 25PPG by now. That really holds him back from being a true scorer/playmaker for others. But he's young and I'm sure that will be a priority this offseason. To Flip's credit, he tries to get Andrew the ball in places that don't require more than one or two dribbles to get to the hoop (low box, free throw line elbow, etc.).

Actually, it's only bad officiating keeping Wiggins from averaging at least 25 ppg.

That's likely what it comes down to. Can Wiggins improve his handle ENOUGH?

He has intermediate handles Q. That's not it at all. What he doesn't have is the mindset to put the ball on the floor 10 times a game and get to the rim. When he does do it. his handle is surprisingly adequate.

Those damn five missed shooting foul calls a game. Tsk, tsk.
