Re: Which would you prefer to keep?
monster, Robinson has the most value for me out of those three guys and I haven't moved from that stance. He's got the best chance of those three to become a starter while being the youngest of the group. Not to mention he's the most athletic and the best defender. It's only a bonus that he'll get paid like a 2nd rounder whereas the other two are making lottery pick money (Bennett as a No. 1). I know I'll get flak for saying this, but it is what it is. I'm intrigued with Muhammad, but his game is so weird and he seems like an offensive spark off the bench instead of a starter. Bennett... We all know how I feel about his game. I won't waste anyone's time there.

His offense doesn't' make up for his lack of D, and throw the injuries on top of that and it just makes sense to move him if possible. I don't want to be throwing a pick with him to do it, but if we are truly trying to stay competitive, it makes sense imo to open up some cap space next season, and moving Bud versus a Shved or JJ does that. I see no reason to give up value to move expiring deals, when we know we have no chance of contending this season, much less anyone to spend the money on. With the Love deal holding things up on our end, we have missed out on most of the prize players already.
Let guys like Wiggins, Lavine and Bennett get a dose of minutes, and then reshape a plan for next season. Guys like Brewer, Martin, Pek, etc. can help keep the team somewhat respectable during the transition.
Right on again SJ.

Re: Which would you prefer to keep?
Bud to me is the odd guy out. The problem is his value is at an all time low. I loved Bud when he was on his rookie contract earning 900k a season. He played better back then as well, before he blew out his knee.
His contract will be hard to move without including a pick. But maybe Philly would take him with Barea and MIA 1st. They are desperately short on wings. Seem to be a team built of mediocre cheap PFs and tweeners. We could buy out Shved to open a roster space for GR3.
I also remember Milwaukee having interested in Bud during last year's offseason. I wonder if that still stands.

Re: Which would you prefer to keep?
I may be in the minority hear but I would almost prefer GR3 play unsigned in the d-league or overseas for the year. With the amount of youth we have and by leaving him unsigned the team would retain control from understanding and we could sign him to the same contract next summer with another year of development on someone else's dime.
I hope we've moved on from exhausting assets to get rid of players so that would leave us one less roster spot to fill.
Bigs - Pek, Dieng, Turiaf, Young, Bennett, Hummel
Wings - Wiggins, Brewer, Bud, Shabazz
Guards - Rubio, Lavine, Martin, Mo Williams
Leaves one spot for: Luc, JJ, Shved
Ideally they would all be shipped out but from the sounds of it one will be shipped to Philly and one would be bought out.
I don't see the benefit of signing GR3 and using up a year of cheap team control unless you can carve out enough playing time to make it worth it. We have Budinger with 2-years left that could use the year to gain some trade value or make himself easier to trade as an expiring next year. Brewer is kind of in the same boat but I would like to keep him with a bench role as spark plug and defensive guy. Leave the wing positions this year for Wiggins and Lavine to develop and take over from Brewer and Martin (if things go to plan) and then bring in GR3 next year with hopefully a mid-lottery or higher PF pick.

Well, three posters (sjm, cool and lipoli) went public with their vote to keep both Bennett and the pick, and even though I didn't post in this thread, I think I probably voted that way too. I'll let the fifth guy speak up for himself. I'm quite happy with having Thad on our team right now, but if we are not able to extend him at the end of the year, giving up a first round pick for one year of Thad might seem like too great a price.
What I want to know is this: Who are the two guys who voted to keep the Miami pick, or in other words, give up Anthony Bennett for one certain year of Thad Young?????? Cam, we know that you are one of them, but I want the second guy to step up and identify himself. And I want both of you to say whether you still would rather have a pick in the low 20s over Anthony Bennett, and why!
Re: Which would you prefer to keep?
Honestly I have no idea how I voted. Serious I was pretty conflicted at the time.

Re: Which would you prefer to keep?
Flip's decision to trade for Thad Young is actually more interesting than the decision to trade Love, since he had no choice with Kevin, so I think we should revisit this trade from time to time. Hindsight factors helpful in evaluating the Young trade are:
1) How Thad performs
2) How AB performs
3) The value of the Miami pick
4) Whether or not Thad stays
Thad has been a nice addition to the team from a character viewpoint, but his numbers to date have been substandard. Pre-trade, I was concerned about three aspects of Thad's game: rebounding, scoring efficiency and defense, and I pointed out how he ranked poorly in all three measurements vs. other PF's. Unfortunately, his numbers in these three areas continue to be substandard:
Rebounding: 4.4/game, 4.9/36 minutes, 7.9% rebounding percentage
Scoring efficiency: .483 TS%
Defensive rating: 112
Also lending some support to the argument that Flip should not have made the trade is the value of the Miami pick. Most of us projected the Miami pick to land in the 20s, but after losing 4 in a row, they would currently project to have the 13th or 14th pick. And there are some really good looking prospects that would likely be available there...Rashad Vaughn, Kevon Looney, Caris LeVert, Frank Kaminsky and D'Angelo Russell for example.
It will take time to finally evaluate the Thad Young trade, but right now I would prefer the Miami pick to having Thad for one year certain.

Defensive and offensive rating are about as worthless statistics as possible. They won't depend on how team performs while certain player is on court but only on team's overall defensive/offensive efficiency and individual measurable offensive/defensive stats.
For example Ricky's offensive and defensive rating has been dropping after almost every game Wolves have played after his injury because Wolves offensive/defensive efficiency has been so much worse without him.
Some other good examples that show how bad statistic defensive rating is:
- Based on defensive rating Corey Brewer is better defender than Wiggins (111 vs 114)
- Based on defensive rating two of the best defensive guards this season have been Stephen Curry and James Harden
- Based on defensive rating Marreese Speights has been one of the best defensive power forwards this season
- Based on defensive rating Carlos Boozer was last year best defensive power forward and this season he has been the worst one
- Based on defensive rating Luis Scola has been better defender than Serge Ibaka this season (100 vs 101)
Check your previous favorite stat opponent FG% at rim from NBA.com instead of this ridiculous defensive rating.

Hint Young has it 45.6% while your boy Bennett has it 63.2%. :)
